A Dozen Dozen

I forgot to eat lunch today. I rarely ever do that. I am a bit amazed really. Food and me have a very close and personal relationship. I am sure that lunch is sulking in a corner somewhere at this insult.

What was I doing instead, you ask? Go on, you did ask. Oh, just pretend and humour me. Thanks!

Well, I spent the best part of the morning ringing the same number over and over again trying to get through to a government department. It's a good thing I can read blogs while I listened to the busy signal so I don't feel like that time was totally lost.

Having done that, I proceeded to cut fabric. I cut the fabric for Sarah's Stained Pink QAL. Most people are cleverly following her cutting instructions for using FQs to make the quilt. I am not that clever. No, I cut each piece from a different fabric. One dozen dozen - 144 - different fabrics in total. I am perplexed why it looks so insubstantial now.

To my reasoning, and most definitely my aching back's reasoning, 144 pieces of fabric should look like a big, huge heap of a pile. But it is done and I can proceed to the fun bit - the piecing. This was a huge leap forward today.

Meanwhile, it has come to my notice that I haven't said anything about post this week. I wouldn't want to let you down so here's what I got from the lovely Reene of Nellies Niceties fame. She won my HR charm squares from my blogiversary giveaway. I included an extra piece of HR as a trade for some of her pink gnomes. In a fabulous act of generosity Reene sent me some other pieces of HR that I didn't have yet. Thank you, Reene!

And I am going to leave you with a photo that my brother dared me to post on this here blog. I didn't reply to his email because I wanted to surprise him when I did post it. This is the brother who reads my blog. The one who bills himself as 'the older, better looking one'. So, here's a blast from my past. Me, at a much younger age. Andrew, I think I may have to dig through the box of photos and find one of you with one of those great 70's haircuts and those shorts you used to wear!

That's me many years ago in Montreal. Not very clear so guess my brother is not getting quite the revenge he wanted. And besides, Helen looked at it and exclaimed, 'Mummy, you look really pretty there.' Bless, there's a bright side to everything, even aging.

Don't forget you can still cast a vote for Angela's - WandaFish11 - block here. If you need an added incentive then read what Angela had to say about all those lovely people who voted for her yesterday -

Thank you everybody! I just had to do a screen grab over at Crazy Old Ladies Quilts as even if it's just one moment in time, my block looks like it has the most votes just now which has made me stupidly happy!!

And if you haven't entered my giveaway there is still time. You will find it here.

Susan

  2. Good on you for posting the photo on my "dare". I found it when I was looking for something to embarrass our dear (not so good looking) almost 50 year old brother. I'm a bit worried about the shorts photo though - oh dear my mind is running amok just imagining.

  13. When I’m at work I forget to eat lunch a lot. Thats because Im so busy and important. At least- that's what I tell people.

I once sat on hold for three hours to a government department and by the time they answered I had steam coming out of my ears.

Im always amazed by how little a stack of cut pieces can look too.
You were very cute as a youngster. Looks like your brother’s dastardly plan totally backfired....

  14. I frequently forget to eat my dinner and then wonder why I'm famished at 3pm! Think you're slightly batty to be cutting 144 pieces out of different fabrics but it'll look great when it's stitched together...agree it looks a mite insubstantial at the moment!!

I'm just amazed that you obviously have more than 144 different fabrics to cut for the QAL! It's going to look fantastic :)
That is a very cute pic of young Susan; looking forward to more embarrassing pics of your brothers, lol.
You'd get my vote for cheerleader any day - thanks again xx

  16. I know what you mean about the small piles of Stained QAL fabric! But then the magic begins! You'll enjoy piecing them together. So you were young once (& how well behaved you look too - what happened?)!

  18. Well done for tackling all that cutting, my back was kind of aching too after, and I stand up to cut on a table! Looking forward to seeing it in all its multi-fabric-ed glory :o)

  19. Are you the cutest ever?!?!?

  20. Yay for finishing all that cutting. I find cutting is really hard work on my back even though I stand up at a slightly taller table to cut, so it shouldn't be so bad!
Hmm you were really cute, what happened? Sorry couldn't resist!
