As a Younger Sister...

... of two brothers it would be fundamentally wrong for me to let a milestone birthday go by without taking the subtle mickey of it. The brother I am gently prodding about his age does not read this blog. But I am sure he will like what I made him today.

It is going to be a cushion cover. I'm not quite finished. But after yesterday, today was a delight. I designed, cut, pieced, basted, quilted - machine and hand - all this afternoon. I only had to unpick stitches once. Miracle!

This is going to be a massive 22" square cushion. I am ever so pleased with it. Do you think I was subtle enough about the age thing?

  1. My son was keen to celebrate his father's half-century - I think that hurt more!

  2. I'm not sure he will notice the age thing, is he more observant than the usual guy? It's wonderful and will make a great large pillow for naps and such.

  6. Keep in mind that what goes around comes around. You too will be 50 one day. I am sure your brother will love it especially for its subtlety.

  7. That is wonderful. On my 40th Birthday my wife filled my office at work with black balloons and flowers. Yours is much more bright and shinny then what she did to me.

  20. I'd say subtlety isnt your strong point. But I bet he is able to see the funny side of it.

There's nothing like rubbing one of your family members noses in it....

  26. I can't believe you made the entire cushion cover in one day. My birthday is in July...60. Think what you can do with 4 months of sewing time? Hint, hint! LOL!

  27. I really don't think he'll notice! The only thing is, you have to expect similar when you hit the big one!
