I've been quilting in the ditch. More precisely, I have been trying to quilt in the ditch. How come something that should be so fundamentally easy isn't? My plan for the Pips Pinwheels is to quilt in the ditch for all the pinwheels and then enhance them more with some perle cotton. Four pinwheels down and five more to do.
It would be nice to say that I had accomplished as much as I have in the past few days, but I can't. We have entered that time of year. This afternoon was spent on the playing fields at the high school with children from multiple schools while they did various sports challenges. Not that we parents could see much. We were instructed to stay where we were and not go and watch the individual events. And for our good behaviour we have the privilege of going back and doing it all over again on Thursday. It would be a bit more fun if we could at least cheer them on but we were so far away it took just about everything to tell which group your child was in.
Friday afternoon I get to go to a meeting about Emily's residential trip next week. Friday night is a dance show. Saturday is the school fete. Saturday evening is the show again. Sunday is a birthday party, about 25 miles from here. Next week Emily is away three days - which is a good thing because we have friends arriving from China and they will be staying in her room so that gives me a chance to get in there and fumigate it. No, I don't think I will get much sewing done for the next little while but I will squeeze in what I can, when I can.
It just seems that events involving the children always come at the same time. I think it must have always been like that and most probably always will be. I'll just suck it up like every other parent does and get on with it. I don't think there is any other way than just rolling with it.
But something good happened today. I got some new fabric. This was particularly good because I forgot that I had ordered it! I don't know if you stalk Stitch Steals but I do. If you don't already know, each and every day they offer a new deal. The deals are pretty well always incredibly good, it is just a question of whether they are featuring something that you desire. You can also look at the old deals and see if any of them have product left that you want. I had completely forgotten about putting in an order a couple of weeks ago. Made that heavy plonking noise that the post made when it hit the floor this morning such a joyful surprise.
Here is what I got -
These are half a yard each of two Riley Blake fabrics and a half yard of the pink from the It's a Hoot line. Additionally I got a yard each of these gorgeous Riley Blake Christmas fabrics which I love, love, love -
Before I go, I just wanted to let you know that Jo over at A Life in Lists is having a blogaversary giveaway. If you don't already, pop on over and have a look at her blog. She makes some beautiful things, writes a good blog AND she is giving away 12 x 12" squares of some to die for Liberty fabric. How good is that?!
