Ta Terrain Dah!

I have been too busy having giveaways to show you a photo or two of the HST Terrain quilt finished. The photos are crap because the light has been bad and every outdoor surface seems to be covered in slush - which I have been rather reluctant to place this quilt upon. But, for better or worse, here is the completed quilt, which himself still deems nice enough to hang upon our walls.

I went for the traditional quilt and toes shot.
The small dry patch outside was cursed with over bright and uneven lighting.

So I got artsy and moody with the indoor lighting.

The backing really does work well with the Terrain.
I must have been bored because I kept taking photos.
And then the obligatory rolled quilt shot.
I am very pleased with this quilt though most of that pleasure is derived not so much from the quilt making as the loveliness of the Terrain fabric. I am so glad I chose to pair it with the navy instead of my usual white. I think the navy sets it off beautifully. And the stitching in the ditch lets the fabric shine.

So, finally, a finish for 2012.

A huge thank you for all the lovely comments that have been left in the past few days. You have all put a smile in my heart. I've been doing stuff with my mum today (and tomorrow and Sunday) so I may not be very good at the replying thing over the next few days. As it stands I currently have 167 emails in my inbox. But I have read each and every one and grinned like an idiot with happiness. You are all too kind for words. Thank you!

Susan

  19. He, he, he the quilt with toes shot reminds me just a little of the scene in The Wizard of Oz where the witches feet shrivel under Dorothy's house.

    Wonderful finish.

  36. I love your quilt... Terrain is one of my most favorite fabric line. I have so much of it piled up...I just can't bring myself to cut it, in case I the quilt doesn't turn out since I never follow patterns, I come up with my own patterns...

Love the navy...I realize this is an old post however I found your blog and the name of your blog attracted me since I am a Canadian living in North Carolina.
