Some Things Make Your Heart Drop to Your Stomach

Today is my last day with my best friend. We have had a good time, and been out to lunch. But I am not posting about that today. Or about how miserable I will be tomorrow. What made my heart drop to my stomach today was when I got my machine out to try and do ten minutes of sewing before we went out. And while I was stitching this fell out of my machine.

It literally fell out of my machine and fell on the piece of fabric I was sewing. Not good. So not good!

My machine now resides at the repair shop. Thank goodness there is one in Banbury. The man said it would most likely take until the end of next week. Then he saw my face. He said he would try to look at it tomorrow, order the necessary parts and have it back to me as soon as possible. That could still be next week, couldn't it?!

I am about to miss several deadlines. I hate that.

  2. I don't even know what that is. But hopefully it will be an easy fix. Perhaps you could ask the repair man if he could give you a loaner while your machine is in the shop so you don't miss your deadlines.

  5. I too will cross fingers for you. My heart almost stopped yesterday when mine made a HORRIBLE noise...which turned out to be a warning that a needle was going to break.

  6. no, no, no! Do they have a loner machine? Do you have a friend you can rendered unconscious for a week? Too bad you are so far away, I have a second machine since I got the new beast for Christmas. I'm thinking good thoughts.

  7. I echo Di`s thoughts - can`t they loan you a machine? The repairers loaned my mum one last year while hers was in for repairs...may be worth a phone call. So sorry - I know how gutting this is!x

  8. Uh oh - do you know what it is? years ago I was doing some servicing of my machine and there used to be this knob that you pushed to one side and it would stop you from over filling a bobbin when winding thread on to it. Well I somehow detached this knob and dropped it down inside the machine and er - I couldn't get it out - I never have been able to. I wonder if one day it will fall out of my machine or if one day it'll just completely b****er my machine up :-)

  11. Oh I am feeling your pain! We all wish we could drop by with our 'spare' machine!!! Definitely see if you can get a loan of one- you'll stress yourself out not being able to sew and meet your deadlines!

  12. My old machine wouldn't be any use to you anyway - it's go a limp and it's knicker elastic has gone. Don't know what I'll do when my new one needs a service

  14. Oh arse! I'd lend you Little Brother if you were closer, but the fuel costs to get her might buy you a new low end machine o.O

  16. Oh no!! What is it?!! Hope you can find a spare machine somewhere - it's a pity it didn't happen before you went away, you could have detoured via my house and borrowed my old one...maybe you could sit in the window of the repair shop and sew on one there?!

  20. It's never good when something falls out of or off your body or your sewing machine.

I remember being sewing machine-less for two weeks once and it drove me nuts.

I sincerely hope your sewing machine guy read the desperation in your eyes and fixes it double quick!

  23. I'm with Flying Blind on this one! Why oh why can't it happen just before you go away so it can sit in the repairers when you weren't going to be using it....It does look like a very essential part. :-(

So sad - both the end of your visit and your poor sewing machine. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious and your baby will be back with you very soon.

  30. total nightmare I empathise totally! I would have gotten the fright of my life if that dropped out my machine. My nearest repair guy is Ayr so a fair wee jaunt for me if mine goes kaputt! Hope he gets it sorted sooner rather than later x

  31. Aww... Sorry to hear your machine won't be there as a pick me up after your friend has to leave. I hope it gets fixed quickly!

  32. Oh, I'm sorry. I hope it will be fixed much sooner than next week. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  33. Wow. Look at that stinker just sitting there. It's one of those weirdo things that we couldn't even guess what it does....or even try to fix it. How you kept your cool in the shop I will never understand.
