I'm not even sure I want to keep it for myself! The top was supposed to be wonky but the whole darn pin cushion was not meant to be that way! Absolutely abysmal. My old sewing teacher would be appalled. Hell, I'm appalled! So, back to the drawing board. I may have to fall back on my age old swap goodie extra and make one of Ayumi's fabric baskets because I don't have time to be dithering over what to make.
We'll put my little stint of sewing this afternoon down as a fail then.
The postman didn't fail me though. I am getting things in the post that I am not even expecting. That fill me with delight and make me smile all day. My friend Sarah, over at Sew Me, sent me a gift just because she is so nice. How about that to brighten someone's day?! Sarah has been busy lately making some absolutely gorgeous cushions for Christmas presents for her family, and this is despite recovering from a wee operation. She is amazing. I highly recommend that you stop over at her blog and say hello because someone like Sarah deserves all the hellos and the 'you make beautiful cushion' comments she can get. Here's what she sent me.
Six gorgeous crocheted coasters and the prettiest little broach. And she chose green to go with my hst cushions I made in the summer! |
If more of you want to pop around, do so. I can always make another cake. It's easy peasy lemon squeezy. Literally, with Lemon Drizzle. I know - terrible joke. Is it any wonder I messed up the pin cushion?!
Susan
You offer cake but every time I get there it is gone!!! Why is that?
ReplyDeleteYou bad DS murderer!! (Wait for the google searches on that one!)
ReplyDeleteTake the top off, add some more to the edges and chop down to a simple square (I don't mind missing triangle points) and it'll be forgiveable!
Hmm cake...Rhonda I live nearer, you are too slow!
Cake sounds good! And, those coasters were worth making just so you would say all those nice things about me. If only even half of them were true! So glad you liked them. The triangles in the pincushion look good - couldn't you save them/enlarge them and keep the whole thing triangular?
ReplyDeleteMmm, cake! We have banana cake and courgette bread (cake) today! House smells interesting! Never mind about the pincushion, stuff happens!
ReplyDeleteCake looks delish x
ReplyDeleteLOVE LDC...and the top of your pin cushion is gorgeous. Hadley`s suggestion sounds best.
ReplyDeleteI'll be there in a mo, I'll just grab some chilled wine on the way....
ReplyDeleteLove those crocheted goods
Confess- you made the cake to make yourself feel better about the pin cushion didn't you? It's a well known fact that cake soothes a range of sewing stuff ups. I bake a cake about every second time I touch my sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteTake heart my friend that not every project is going to be utterly gorgeous and call this one a prototype!
Oh no! Little cushion, what are you doing? Your brooch, on the other hand is lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh dear. Ah well, nice to know you stuff up too like the best of us :P
ReplyDeleteYummo, lemon cake. I'm there! I'll have vanilla ice cream with mine too please :)
I LURRRRVE lemon drizzle! and the pinny is still cute despite the wonkiness. I like your theory of a triangle in a hexie :)
ReplyDeleteMaths - I blame maths! Let's leave it at that - but it does have a charm all of his own!
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks yummy but lemon isn't my fav - carrot or gingerbread for me - or a shortbread biscuit....but thanks for the invite!
Oh, you make me laugh! Hilarious! I so appreciate people who post their project nightmares! It makes me feel that all you quilters out there who inspire me are also human and have challenges of your own! So funny! I think this little pin cushion should be loved all the more for it's "character"!
ReplyDeletenah - it's fine - put more stuffing into it and it'll become beautifully blousy!!
ReplyDelete....and lemon drizzle cake - hmm, groaning lemon tree, a spare hour or 2.....see you!

The crochet coasters are gorgeous. As I'm sure the lemon drizzle cake is!
ReplyDeleteThat pincushiong looks fab to me - confused.com
ReplyDeleteLove your wee pressies, and enjoy your cake. We got lemon and orange marmalade cake in our cottage when we arrived yesterday, which went down rather nicely
I don't think it's awful at all but I would rescue the top which is v cute and maybe do a triangle shape with it. I've tried to do similar but the hexie shape is difficult to get with the pincushion stuffing, I've never got it right. Super lovely coasters - lucky you!
ReplyDeleteWell you're just gonna have to send me the recipe now cos I'm druleing all over the keyboard!! I saw Sarah makes for you last week & I just knew you'd love them. Jxo
ReplyDeleteawww poor little pincushion! If I made you I would be v proud of myself! although my skills aren't as good as yours so that is why! xxx
ReplyDeleteAm I too late for cake?!!! I'm so far behind in my blog reading - must try harder ;o)
