The First Snowflake has Fallen

Today I can wow you with my lack of accomplishments. It was a definite 'I can't be arsed' sort of day. In fact it has been so bad that the breakfast dishes that I couldn' be arsed to do this morning are still waiting. But they will get done before I go and pick the girls up from school. No need for them to find out the depths to which their mother has fallen. (Ha! Like they haven't seen it before!)

The only task I completed satisfactorily was the destruction of one Lindt bunny and a slight bloated, I think I had too much chocolate feeling. I managed that with exemplary perfection.

It is amazing how someone not in full time employment can fall prey to the I Hate Mondays syndrome.

I did manage a little sewing though, between reading emails, watching Bargain Hunt (I am not generally a day time telly sort of person) and eating that chocolate. I decided to go ahead with my tablerunner a bit more. So I sewed, and basted and then got out the perle cotton. This is the point that I lost the will to do anything, mostly because my needle threader - last seen in the hands of my eldest - has gone into that mysterious black hole of who knows where and I spent an hour trying to find it, unsuccessfully. By the time I gave up the hunt I was well and truly ready for that bunny.

So what little I have to show is this, a bit more border and one solitary snowflake. The first to fall around here this winter.

I like the narrow touch of red,
but when I put the idea out there in the swap it was a pretty even split between those who wanted it and those who didn't.
Obviously I chose to ignore those who didn't!
I may still add a little more detail to this snowflake.
Undecided.
Well then, it's after 3pm so I had best go do those breakfast dishes then. And head out into that chilly autumn weather. I'm quite happy here in the house, with the heat on, but I suppose if I didn't show up at the school there would be a certain point that the girls would get annoyed. Shame!

  2. I'm loving the look of your table runner. I'm already regretting not signing up for the swap :-/ Especially as in Brit Q swap and Goodie Bag swap my partners have not commented on a single thing that I've seen since sign ups!

  3. Oh, this tablerunner looks awesome. I love how there are no Christmas trees or just green and red colors, yet it's still a winter/ Christmas tablerunner. Great job!

  6. Let's face it, the bunny had to go! You couldn't let that wascally wabbit taunt you like that, could you?
Besides if chocolate assists in the creation of such lovely items who are we to question?

  7. Oh wow - that runner is beautiful. Love everything about it so far! Somehow I'd imagined your crocheted snowflakes (in blue) adorning the centre - I must have got muddled up reading your previous posts (not hard for me to do these days). Looks fabulous!

  9. Oh Susan, you started with such high hopes and aspirations! I love your tablerunner - it`s very sophis. and grownup and just what I want. Makes mine look like a Disney caricature but hey ho. Very envious of your snowflake and chilly autumn weather - still TOO HOT here!

Love your tablerunner - how about soe tasteless diamontes sprinked on to your snowflake? I like a bit of vulgarity at Christmas...

  11. If you managed to massacre an entire bunny I'd call the day a success!

I'm in the "Way to go on the snowflake " camp. Nice job!

  18. I am truly in love with your runner. My fabric finally came in the mail today so maybe tomorrow I can get to it. I agree with Sheila in that the snowflakes would be A.MAZ.ING with a little sparkle.

  19. I don't think it needs more sparkle - you have given it with that great red accent border! This one's a winner and will be the envy of every partner! If it were mine I wouldn't want to let it go!

  20. I dream of those days - sometimes a can't be arsed day is incredibly satisfying and you need them to counter the really productive ones! Loving the snowflake :)

  23. ok, let's put things into perspective here, the bunny's days were numbered! End of! And any monday was going to be a 'can't be arsed' day after such a perfect Sunday! Congrats on getting the dishes sorted! The runner's not bad too! lol

  25. love the honesty of your post!!!! I frequently can't be arsed doing the breakfast dishes or the school drop off /pick up so totally understand where you are coming from!!! Some days are just like that aren't they? Glad the bunny helped though. Chocolate helps everything doesn't it? Did you do your snowflake on the machine or by hand ? love this colour combo. x
