The nice thing about doing quilting like this is you really can tackle it one hexie at a time. Somehow quilting in that limited space again and again works for me (even if I did get bored senseless towards the end). It helped me control my FMQ movements and the overall quilt movement.
And I love the overall effect of all those snails side by side.
I intend to do a little bit of hand quilting in the blues. Very limited, so it shouldn't take long. Then I need to square it up, bind it and make a hanging sleeve. I've two weeks to accomplish this in. Or I did, until I arranged for the girls and I to go see friends on the Isle of Wight so I need this all finished and in the post to the show organisers in eight days. I need to find more of that ability to focus that I had today.
My reward for getting this task done? More fabric of course. It arrived yesterday.
It arrived at 7:30am. Why do the delivery guys have to ring the bell about a dozen times? Why?!

ReplyDeleteNearly nearly there, you've done both the long term and difficult stages! My tip would be make the sleeve before sewing the binding on, then with the same stitches you can attach the top of the sleeve to the binding which will cut down on the hand stitching :)

ReplyDeleteyeah those yodel guys arrive really early, before I am up so that means before the 8o clock news comes on. Even the flowers on mothers day came really early and nobody but me heard the doorbell. Husband was making brekkie but had the music on to loud, and daughter just didn't "hear"

These snail spirals are great! I'm curious though- do you do each one separately or does one lead into the next? Doesn't that leave you with lots of ends to bury? However you do it, it is very effective!
