Buying Myself Presents?

I thought I would pass off the entering into my life of new fabric as me buying myself a Mothers Day gift. It made sense to me, slide it by without a moment of guilt, and why not after all?! That would explain how I got this lovely, lovely stack of Wee Wander arriving in the post.

I ordered it off the lovely ladies at Pin It and Stitch and if you haven't got your hands on any of this line go get some now as people are buying it up quick! The colours are stunning and the cotton super soft. I am seriously happy with this purchase.

Back to me assuaging my conscience by pretending it was a Mothers Day present. That is going to be hard to do because in actual fact I got breakfast in bed (Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict as per tradition - my tradition), homemade cards (the best kind) and chocolates. Lots of chocolates.

So can the fabric still be considered a Mothers Day present? Hmmm?

Even more guilt inducing is the fact that himself took me out yesterday and bought something else, and then said 'Happy Mothers Day' to me after the purchase.

I've wanted proper garden furniture for just about forever. Love this set. And next time Brit Bee comes a calling, I hope it is a sunny day so we can use this.

Which brings me back full circle to the fabric. Can I honestly pass it off as a Mothers Day present now? Or would that make me look really, really bad?

Susan

  5. Happy Mother's Day, I always forget it happens so early there. Of course you can have the fabric as another present, there is no rule that beautiful garden furniture and yummy food is enough. I have a bundle of that line too, I could not resist.

  6. Absolutely yes! One can never be too spoilt on Mother's Day ;-) And I'm drooling over that yummy looking salmon eggs benedict - that's my all-time favourite breakfast!
    Enjoy,
    xx

  7. Easy - use it to make cushions for the garden furniture, and then it was all part of the mothers' day celebration ;-) I had half a grapefruit brought to me in bed, with a cup of tea. So cute that a 9 year old sees half a grapefruit as the ultimate in sophistication!

  8. Since you are Canadian, and NA Mother's day is still 6 weeks away, not only can you claim the fabric was for Mother's Day, but any more fabric that arrives before May 11 should count too!

  9. Of course it counts as a Mothers Day present to yourself, I'm counting the fabric I bought today at Fabric Guild, AND the fabric from Simply Solids I bought last night, as well as the book and CD's I got as gifts today, I deserve it, and so do you!

  11. You can certainly count in fabric as part of your Mother's Day celebration! You might decide to make a table runner for that great new garden furniture where you can sit in the sun and enjoy your chocolate!

  12. Of course it can count as a mothers day present. Age old tradition of women doing that, and at birthday time. I have a list of fabric to order next week and wee wander is on it, I really like it .

  14. Happy Mother's Day, sounds like you've had a wonderful one! I've been making with my Wee Wander today, I think that was my gift, a bit of day light sewing time!! Isn't it just wonderful, I fear I will be needing to purchase more very soon. Love the furniture by the way, let's hope there's lots of opportunity to use it!

  15. Ha ha... What they don't know about, won't trouble them ;) surely they will not even notice the new fabric among the other piles if they don't know what too look for.

  16. You can totally pass it off as a Mother's Day Present. The outdoor furniture firmly comes under the heading of house hold purchases !

  17. Lucky you! And happy mother's day. I will live vicariously through you as Mother's Day in my house is usually called "oh, is that today?". Luck me. And it's on my birthday this year too. Hmmm, I think I might be buying myself some fabric this year!

Enjoy your day and your family.
