I finally bit the bullet and ordered a roll of wadding. Not one of the huge ones. 10m is big enough for me to store as it is. I have to say, it is sad but true, but having this makes me happy.
And it makes me feel like a grown up quilter. Is that odd?
Now that the wadding is in the house I have been able to baste my hexies.
I've used the Ikea numbers print for the back because I had some and if I used the fabric I originally bought for backing I would have to piece in some more to the width and I was so not in the mood. So numbers it is then. Time to start quilting. I have a plan. Stay tuned.
Susan
Numbers is lovely! You are almost done! Keep going. Isn't it nice to have batting in the house to use it and not have to think about to have it when you need it?
ReplyDeleteI love that numbers fabric, is it good "quilting quality cotton"?? My nearest IKEA is at Southampton so have not purchased any yet. Wish they sold it online, £3 can't be beaten! I have a box of wadding in the loft. Mmmmm, no idea really which box?? LOL
ReplyDeleteI wish I was a grown up quilter, maybe after I am married and that, I will be grown-up enough to warrant buying one!
ReplyDeleteI bought a roll of wadding too, last summer. It was around the same time that I bought a full bolt of Numbers. Oh boy, the excitement when it was delivered and the look of shock/horror on husbys face!
ReplyDeleteI must admit it did make me feel like a 'real' quilter and it has spurred me on to finish some of my WIP's.
Looking forward to seeing the hexies quilted.
I love my roll of wadding, but unfortunately so does the dog ;-)
ReplyDeleteI ordered a 15m roll last autumn and must admit it's saving me money in the long run and i love that I don't have to think all the time to order another pack. When it arrived I started saving a small amount each week for its replacement (not that I'm using it super quickly or anything) so hopefully the outlay will seem even less painful when the time comes. Enjoy your grown up-ness!
ReplyDeleteWhich brand is it? I like Quilters Dream and that looks like it and if it is, where did you order from? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how you quilt this pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh i want one!
ReplyDeleteWhat did you go for. I nearly bought a roll earlier in the year but couldn't find the brands I wanted so ended up going for a couple of 3m lengths (I think) and rolling it myself. One day I may even use some of it!
ReplyDeleteI felt like that when I got my first roll :) I'm on my second now and feel positively middle-aged ;)
ReplyDeleteOh I'm crying out for some wadding!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI will have to patch some together for my giveaway, so I completely know how you feel.
Isnt it funny how something so bland can make you feel so satisfied.
ps. with my lack of wadding I can see now how folk end up with a million quilt tops needing to be finished.....
Oh I want a roll of wadding too! I sound like the girl off Willy Wonka, lol. Good on you - you know that you're a REAL quilter now!
ReplyDeleteWhat dud you buy? I've been going to and fro about buying a roll for the last month or so.
ReplyDeleteLucky you!! So that is what it takes to be a grown up quilter. I thought grown up quilters just knew more swear words for when things went wrong. xx
ReplyDeleteI love buying batting by the roll too...like you it makes me happy to see such a huge amount of it laying round waiting to be used(and yours will be gone before you know it - you are a prolific quilter!)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the wadding! I love having mine.
ReplyDeleteHello, love your Blog>your post brings a smile to my face as that's how I feel too! As a beginner Quilter, I've never ordered a huge roll of wadding. Maybe soon!!!!
