Blame The Children

Sorry, I unintentionally disappeared for a couple of days mostly because my computer got taken over by unyielding forces, also known as my children. I didn't get a look in for most of the weekend! Was there life before electronic gadgets?

Anyway, I've been doing a little of this and a little of that. And lots of planning.

I finally got round to ripping the papers out of a bee block I received long ago. It was a 24" block so this took a while, but it is done, and wasn't actually quite as bad as I built myself up to believing it would be. And I have aided matters by telling myself getting a pair of tweasers and pulling the little bits out of the corners really isn't necessary. Please don't tell me otherwise!

Then, in pursuit of my goal to finish as much of my FAL list as possible I have picked up one of my WIPs and been working on the hand quilting. It is a small project and if I do a bit here and there it shouldn't take too long before it is done.

I've also been spending a fair amount of time on Touchdraw sketching out ideas for blocks/quilts. When I find one I really like I would like to offer up my first free pattern here. Now that I have finally got my head around writing patterns due to the Love Patchwork & Quilting commissions I think it would be nice to write some and share them here on the blog.

Oh, and I have Trudi's sewing machine in place and hope to find the time to get on with things tomorrow. I was out swanning about at Ange's today, being served lovely pieces of cake and talking too much. Nose back to the grindstone in the morning.

  2. surely all the little bits of paper will just gently gather up in the washing machine?

  3. I took Carol Doak's FPP class on Craftsy and she says that the little bits of leftover paper add to the warmth of the quilt! That's a good thing, isn't it?
Good luck with the pattern writing!

  6. I hate pulling papers out of anything! I am not fussy if a sliver gets left behind. The technological age is such a distraction. I get so much more done if I ignore the laptop!

  12. The tiny bits break down in the wash anyway. Why struggle with them? I had the read that paragraph twice - but rest assured, I now know it was a received block and you didn't paper piece a 24" one, since I know how you feel about it. I almost fell off my chair! :-)

  14. Electronic gadgets - a blessing and a curse, right? Here I am messing around with electronic gadgets and avoiding the stuff I should be doing. But it's always fun to see what others are up to, and your hand stitching always inspires me. I need a hand-quilting project (as opposed to my grandmother's flower garden quilt which has been stalled since I don't know when.) Thanks for the inspiration.
