Despite the germ invasion we have been having a good Christmas. I had everything organised enough for once that I was able to double duty nurse and chef duties. The meals turned our great (if I say so myself). Toasts were made, maybe some champagne drank. Presents were given and received, and there was a general feeling of good will to all. Just greatly diminished appetites and humongous amounts of time spent in bed by some, and copious amounts of medicine consumed.
I thought I would drop in today and show you the fabric (and related) goodness I received as gifts. I was ever so lucky in the gift department. I shall skip showing you photos of chocolates, etc. Suffice to say they too were gratefully received.
My Brit Bee Secret Santa gift was a gorgeous infinity scarf in lush coloured voile. And a fabulous button FQ, and some needle threaders. Thank you, Secret Santa! |
Lots of handy dandy bits and pieces that are very useful. I have wanted a 12.5" square ruler for just about ever. And I am now addicted to spray basting thanks to this lovely lady. |
Assorted FQs. More perle - because you can never have enough. And some Heaven and Helsinki which I love and have wanted for ages. |
Neutrals. A low volume quilt is on the cards for 2013. Any and all links to the best ideas gratefully welcome. |
Someone who knows me well cut me a whole assortment of 2.5" squares. I want to do a postage stamp quilt too. Not a scrap vomit one - these are way too pretty to even be considered for that! |
And some Cuzco by Kate Spain. I. Want. More. This line is so very, very gorgeous in person. |
Susan
So sorry the lurgy has visited your house too. Not much fun having it and not a lot of laughs playing nurse either!! On the plus side, when you aren't mopping fevered brows and removing snotty tissues from the bedsides of sick children, you have some real beauties there in your stash additions. I love your neutrals bundle especially. Can't imagine you doing low volume quilt as I always associate bright happy fabrics with you. But I bet it'll be amazing when you do it! Hope the lurgy leaves you house very soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame that your house is once again under siege! That was not suppose to happen :(
ReplyDeleteOn the up side, those goodies are delicious and that hot chocolate is looking mighty fine as well.
Take care :) Hope everyone's feeling better very soon.
Hi Susan. Hope your house full is getting better? That's just not fair they are sick again. You did really well with Christmas gifts, lucky girl! There is some low volume quilts in Sunday Morning Quilts book. I like their scrappy ideas too. I too have some Cuzco. I ordered a jelly roll. It's lovely!
ReplyDeleteLovely fabrics. Hope your family feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteWell if they are all in bed, no need to keep the table clear for fancy meals, one could sew in between nursing duties. I hope they all get better in time for a bit of fun before having to get back to the routines. This post has the most beautiful fabrics in it, you will be making beautiful things this year.
ReplyDeleteI know whatever you do with it all will be gorgeous, you're good like that... lol
ReplyDeleteBest not to be a good nurse, the worse you are the quicker they'll want to be better! xxx
So sorry they are sick again. That is NO fun for anyone.
ReplyDeleteYour not chocolate with whipped cream and snowman marshmallows looks deliscious! I've never had it that way.
Sorry you've had a house full of germs this Christmas. Had to laugh a little though reading your post. Sorry :) hoping that cup of cocoa makes up for all of it.
ReplyDeleteomg, that hot chocolate looks amazing! Sorry to hear about the lurgy, but I guess having the small people feeling under the weather may have kept them out of your hair at least ;-)
ReplyDeletehope all feeling better soon x Have fun with all your goodies xx
ReplyDeleteGreat score on the present front! Sorry the lurgy struck, but at least they're not fighting! They're not are they? Keep up the good work on the nurse duties, works a treat here! Lol. Keep up the chilling out!
ReplyDeleteSmall people + Christmas get-togethers = sicklies... {us too}
ReplyDeleteGlad it has been great regardless of the germ.
I am totally jealous of all that gorgeous fabric! and nearly as much of that scrumptious hot choccie.
Oh no, rubbish timing with the lurgies!Hope everyone is on the mend
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good Christmas and you certainly received some lovely sewing goodies!
Lovely lovely gifts! You are very lucky! We've been the house of lurgy too and I've been playing Florence Nightingale for the last couple of weeks. Not. Fun.
ReplyDeleteIt seems Christmas is the time for or gives. I think you go full pelt into Christmas, and when you eventually stop, everything has chance to catch up. Hope hubbie enjoyed the nurses uniform!xx
ReplyDeleteSorry about the germs, we have them too. There is much to be said for Christmas in July.
ReplyDeleteFab fabrics.
Sorry to hear there are germs lurking at Chez Susan. Hope they disappear quickly and don't come back for a very long time. Your Christmas haul is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a nurse either so I get that. Sorry to hear your family is under the weather. Seems like you've been fighting something all fall/winter.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful fabrics! Were those from family? Mine wouldn't have any idea what to get.
Definitely confine the sick to bed where they keep their germs to themselves, or at least somewhere where they won't bother you while you're playing with your very lovely Christmas haul!
ReplyDeleteI hope good health returns so that you can all welcome the New Year with gusto :)
Best wishes xx
Very lovely sewing gifts. I think that Leanne has the right idea about setting up the machine! I do hope that you are through the worst of the illness. Di x
ReplyDeleteOh what a shame everyone is poorly! Boo! Glad you've got spoilt with fabric etc. And I knew I'd get you addicted to solvents sooner or later (shame it's odourless!). Jxo
ReplyDeleteYay to wonderful sewing gifts (especially like the neutral bundle) but Boo to lurgy, hope it's on the wane now and you get to have a germ free New Year.
ReplyDeleteYummy fabric! I too have a thing for spray baste! It.is.the.best.
ReplyDeleteThose are some great gifts - and hose marshmallows are seriously cute!
ReplyDeletethe sick ick has gone global. I hope your family gets over it quickly. I am still coughing, but able to get things done. I really don't know how I made it through Christmas in one piece. I guess I had a lot of help.
ReplyDeleteYou have some lovely gifts there and I know 2013 has lots of good things in store for you and yours. xoxo
Was SSSSOOOO relieved to read that I'm not the only bad mother when it comes to nursing duties!!! I HATE it when mine get ill, and they'll tell you themselves that "Mum doesn't do tea and sympathy"!! Hope eveyone is now on the mend, and you can get on with creating marvels with your fabulous pressies. I look forward to reading about them! Happy New Year! x
ReplyDeleteSo sorry your family has been sick Susan :-( and hope they are recovered soon...for everyone's sanity. The fabric is beautiful and I couldn't live now without my 12.5 " square ruler - I honestly think it is the best quilting tool I have ever bought - worth every penny and more. The Cuzco is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteoh no - what a bummer - hop they're all on the mend and you're not running yourself ragged being everything for everyone. great pressies!!
ReplyDeleteOh bum on the lurgy visiting, hope they took care of themselves, I don't think I have the required sympathy levels either ;o) That looks like the perfect way to fight it off though...
ReplyDeleteSanta done good too, enjoy all the new goodies :o)
Oh, sorry to hear about the lurgy, I hope they're getting better.
ReplyDeleteStill, it's great to know that you've been so lucky with the gifts.
Hope the house is fully recovered soonest and wow you did so good on the sewing present front. I had one sewing related book and some needles and that was the extent of my crafty gifts! Thank heavens for the secret santa before Christmas!
ReplyDeleteBoo about the lurgy but those pressies and fabric look amazing. Here is to a healthy 2013 in your house xx
ReplyDeleteYucky germs, but lovely fabrics and gifts! : )
ReplyDeleteI think I just overdosed on all your fabric. Beautiful! You deserved to be spoiled.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the lurgy is still kicking the butt of others in your household. Bed is the best place for sick people , and its a lot easier to ignore sick people when they;re in another room too.
Sorry sickness is running through your family. Geez, you really cleaned house in the sewing department for Xmas! What's that button fabric near the top of your post? An old Suzuko Koseki, maybe? Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMay your family recover quickly, and may you dodge this bug yourself...
Happy New Year!
