The weather has meant that our annual walk amongst the bluebells happened a few weeks later than last year. But that's okay because it was no less enjoyable. I love this ritual of ours and wouldn't miss it. The only downside to this year's walk versus last year's was that all the wonderful rope swings we found in the woods then have disappeared. That made for disappointed girls, and their mother. Yes, I played on them too! (Proof of that
found here.) Himself just took the photos. Not
these photos. The official recording of the event for posterity and family pleasure photos. I took my point and shoot and grinned like a silly fool about the wonderfulness of it all.
So here is a photo laden post that records the joy of walking in a sea of blue.
And if a sea of blue wasn't enough. Then we tried to lose our girls in a sea of yellow instead.
I love this time of year. I love the greening of the land and all those clichés. The colours are so vibrant. You still have hope that we might actually get a summer this time round. The optimist in me thrives on this. I even started thinking barbecues recently. Dreaming of the meals to come. So don't disillusion me, just let me wallow in my blissful ignorance. I am happy this way.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful spot. Is the field canola?
ReplyDeletethanks for taking us with you xx
ReplyDeleteI love the UK at this time of year, when the weather is like this. It is when it is at it's best (IMO). I haven't been on a blue bell walk in years, probably because of access problems, but your walk looked wonderful, and it's nice to share with your photos.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you'd be as fond of our bluebell walk, it's through the necropolis behind the cathedral (aka big f-off graveyard ;o) )
ReplyDeleteI love it. What a fab day - a great way to spend time with your girls.
ReplyDeletePerfect for a mother's day.
looks lovely - we drove past all the bluebells today (but no time to stop)
ReplyDeleteToday gave us hope of summer for sure! Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteThose are great shots of the girls. We had rain, but I have a lot of bluebells in my garden, love 'em.
ReplyDeleteLove the strong girl pose from Emily! Susan do you think about food wherever you go??
ReplyDeleteA great day out!!
ReplyDeletehappy mothers for the usa
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time - no hay fever sufferers then, with all that oil seed!
ReplyDeleteBluebells, yellow stuff, great scenery. What's not to love?
ReplyDeleteIn Australia if you walked through a field like that you'd be dead afraid a snake would be lurking.
You'll have a brilliant summer...how's that for some positivity! What a beautiful day you had! And made some fabulous new memories!
ReplyDeleteAh you made it! There is something special about a bluebell wood as the bluebells last for such a short time. We went off to another one today! Di xo
ReplyDeleteLovely pics Susan! your girls look like such characters. It was so nice here today we actually mentioned the BBQ word but we got too lazy in the end!
ReplyDeleteLovely place for a family outing - the bluebells are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos but I need an allergy pill just looking at them.
ReplyDeleteSo fun! The mere mention of summer seems to jinx it so I'll say no more!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics! Looks like you had a great day. I hate the yellow stuff though, it gives me horrendous hayfever.
ReplyDeleteIs it really a year since you were swinging like a loon? Beautiful pics Susan - English countryside is seriously beautiful as are your girls.
ReplyDeleteI went in search of bluebells to photograph in the Chilterns on Sunday and they were way past their best wherever I spotted them. I was gutted. But I did love how the tree's are greening up and looking all zingy!
