It is one of the biggest days in the blogging year, Giveaway Day, where hundreds of bloggers join in and have a giveaway on their blog. It's huge fun. You get to meet lots and lots of new bloggers as well as having the chance to win something. The generosity of so many people who just want to join in and be a part of it is phenomenal. If you have come over from the linky party at Sew Mama Sew, thanks for stopping by. If you have no idea what I am talking about, click on the link button above and go see what is going on. It shouldn't be missed.
With so many people joining in it would be silly for me not to take part as well.
This time round I am offering up one hoop -
I know, it is a love it or hate it sort of prize. I got a 'mixed reaction' when I blogged about it. But I still think it sums up life some days and that some of you reading this will think it is a fun prize.
To have a chance at winning leave one comment. If you would like something in particular to say then tell me what you think would be a good quote to have on a hoop.
That's it. One chance for each person who enters. If there are multiple entries from one person I will delete them. If you are a non-reply blogger and do not leave an email address that I can contact you at if you are the winner than I will redraw the prize. I will do the draw by Mr Random Number Generator on Friday, May 25th at midnight UK time, and post who the winner is the next morning.
That's it. The very best of luck and thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy looking at and entering all the other giveaways too!
Susan
Noooo! You can't possibly give this away?!! I love it too much!!
ReplyDeleteI think "Fuck it, pass me the wine" would make a brilliant hoop. In fact, I might just do that...
A hoop just like this one would be perfect! Jess thought it sounded just like me when she saw it on your blog.
ReplyDeleteI relate so much! I also like "quilting is cheaper than therapy." Thanks for the great reminder about why I should sew rather than clean on the last day before my kids get out of school for the summer.
ReplyDeleteAhahaha I love it!!!. And the other suggestions too. Luckily I xstitch too so even if I don't win I just may make myself one :D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS!!! Great giveaway and my fingers are crossed :)
ReplyDeletethis would sit so perfectly on my wall with my 3 'shit' 'shit' 'shit' hoops, infact they have been there so long they are no longer shocking and need something to spice it up!
ReplyDeleteWell I have done nothing this morning, except read blogs and enter giveaways! I think your hoop says it all..LOL.
ReplyDeleteI happen to love it and would be thrilled so I can give it to my friend who gave me quilting lessons and shares my hatred of stupid people. ha!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance!
zucchinisummer at gmail dot com
This is a great quote--almost how I feel after working 9hrs with the public!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, what a great prize - thank you! If Archie was to make a hoop it would have to be a snappy saying about biscuits and walks but I left my brain under my pillow this morning so I can't think of one!
ReplyDeleteLOL...I love the hoop and the saying. I would love to win this so I can hang it in my shop...it would get so many chuckles...thank you Susan
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it! Thanks so much to my friend, the Bargain Babe, for sending me the link :)
ReplyDeleteI want that hoop! I would hang it on my door so when im happily sewing along, my family can read it before knocking! lol
ReplyDeleteActual lol! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI reckon "If you can read this, what the f*ck are you doing in my house?" I'll think of something shorter if I win!
ReplyDeleteI freakin' love it. If I don't win I may have to make myself something similar.
ReplyDeletei don't actually quilt very much so i would rather this go to someone who does but i love it! just wanted to let you know. it's pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun giveaway--totally how I feel! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI. Love. This. Hoop! I cant' believe you're giving it away. How about a bit of cheese: Old quilters never die, they just go batty. Har, Har, Har.
ReplyDelete"I'm not insane, my mother had me tested."
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this!! I always tell people that I sew to keep my sanity so I can totally relate. Thanks for the chance! SMiles~Beth
ReplyDeleteI love that hoop, would love to win. Many days my favourite line is "Don't panic".
ReplyDeleteMe, me, me, me! I totally get it! Jxo
ReplyDeleteI love snarky embroidery! :)
ReplyDeletekirkwood0419(at)hotmail(dot)com
Love this hoop! I need to make one for my studio that says "My house needs all this fabric to keep warm."
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this hoop. Truly. Not enough coffee (yet) to think of a quote, so I am gonna go with the one you embroidered, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten about SMS Giveaway Day this year. I'm a dunce! Never mind I think "Do not disburb the quilter as she has access to lots of sharp objects and knows how to use them"
ReplyDeletePerfect!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
I love this! So cute!
ReplyDeleteWell, considering that I don't only quilt but I do other sewing, I would like a hoop that says "Leave me alone, or I will sew your mouth shut." I know it's so morbid, but I really don't like being disturbed while sewing!
ReplyDeleteis I win I am putting this on a chain and wearing it around my neck at Sewing Summit, promise!
ReplyDeleteOh I love this! IT would be PERFECT on my hoop wall! Thanks for a great giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteTee hee! I think I would actually liberate this from its hoop and turn it into a block for the 'ME quilt' I keep planning to make but always end up busy with other projects.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought it would be fun to sew up some Shakespearian insults, so I propose "thou cream-faced loon! Where got'st thou that goose look?" from Macbeth :)
I love the sentiment...a day without quilting makes me VERY cranky!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe your giving this away! Lucky us!
ReplyDeleteI think I've had too much sun today (finally!) my mind is blank!
Please count me and my lame brain in :-) and come enter my giveaway too :-)
I loved this when you first blogged about it, I can't believe you're giving it away!
ReplyDeleteHave had a raging headache all day so can't think of anything good for another, tho I did make a "give peas a chance" one for my nephew.
Pick me!!! I think that the hoop says it all! Di x
ReplyDeletePerfect quote! I don't usually go a day without turning the sewing machine on.
ReplyDeleteI love the saying! It would definitely look great on the wall of my library/sewing room. :) Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteLove it! If I won, it would meet and greet my guests in my hall!
ReplyDeleteI think this about sums up why I quilt!
ReplyDeleteHm.. how about "I'm running out of places to hide the bodies" or "my Indian name is Runs with Scissors"?
ReplyDeleteI love yours best though!!
I would love to win this Susan! I wish I was some kind of badass quilter/embroiderer, but in all reality my hoop should probably say "Has anyone seen my needle? I think I lost it around here." ;)
ReplyDeleteNooooo!!! You can't give this hoop away Sue, it's MINE!!!
ReplyDeleteIF I could embroider beautifically like yourself I would make a hoop for the door of my sewing room & it would say....
Quilting in Progress. Piss Off.
Hehe.
( I don't have a sewing room as yet but a door hoop is a start. Right?)
Some of these suggestions are hilarious! I love the original though... would love to win it :)
ReplyDeleteI am too busy laughing at Laura Janes to come up with my own, although I like Hadley's as well!
ReplyDeleteThis rocks as a prize x
I follow x
ReplyDeleteI love it! If I were to put a quote in a hoop, it might be, "Don't apologize. Don't explain." Because I need constant reminders for both.
ReplyDeleteYes please!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it! If I don't win I will be making myself one for sure?
ReplyDeleteLove the irony of this for me because last twice I've quilted I've felt like killing someone lol My mind is mush and I can't think of a the perfect hoop quotation.
ReplyDeleteI loved this since the first time I saw it. Another, very unrelated, quote that I love is, It's better to be kind than right.
ReplyDeleteLove this, and totally agree.
ReplyDeleteLove that! I'd also love one that says 'Shit happens'
ReplyDeletei love it and your blog
ReplyDeleteThat quote is so funny! I think if I were ever to choose to have something in a hoop it would say, "We've learned to take the laughter with the tears, after all these years." Or, "In my hert I'll always keep you near, after all these years." These words are lyrics from the song "After All These Years" by Journey. The song describes me and my husband PERFECTLY!!! Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great giveaway!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOooh I definitely would run off with this one. And there are a few great suggestions. I'm stuck between "Do I look like I give a shit about your problems" (for hanging on my office door) and "Wine and chocolate make everything ok". But most probably if I won I would go for the bookworm in me and use one of my fave quotes "Not all those who wander are lost". Or I'd just have yours, which I LOVE!
ReplyDeletewhat a great giveaway: 'pass the wine' would be a good quote after the day I;ve had!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I would take the hoop just as it is! Thanks so much for the giveaway opportunity!!
ReplyDeleteShort, sweet and to the point. Some times you just have to say it so no-one misses the message ;-). Thanks
ReplyDeleteHmmm, on a hoop?
ReplyDeleteMake something beautiful!
Oh forget Mr Random just hand it over!
ReplyDeleteFor prevaricating me it has to be : "Oh just ****** get on with it already!"
That is the most awesome thing to put in a hoop! Count me as a lover!
ReplyDeleteAs far as other quotes to embroider, I've been thinking of this one which my boyfriend sent me the other day: "I don't have hobbies, I'm just developing a robust post-apocalyptic skill set" I guess he's expecting zombies any day or something.
Awesome. I love it and it makes me laugh! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHee hee, you're giving it away? Your mantra?! I think it's fabby, so please count me in...and if I win, I might just have to learn embroidery so I can make one with Laura's mantra on it, although it'll say F**k it, pass me the wine/cider/vodka * delete as appropriate! x
ReplyDeleteoh god no,don't give it away !!! unless it's to me of course, and you know me :O)
ReplyDeletePlease dont let the other person who shall not be named win !!!
I love *live life for today, you might be dead tomorrow*
Hilarious! I sew, but am not a quilter (yet). However, I have a friend who quilts, for whom this would be absolutely perfect. Totally her personality. I have contemplated making myself a hoop that reads "Your drama is not my drama" and hanging it up at work, or one for home that says "No Llama Drama" (something I tell the kids, a phrase from the book "Llama, Llama, Red Pajamas". There's also the sign you see on French gates, "Chien Mechant" ("Mean Dog") that could be fun in a hoop. Thanks for the giveaway; whether I win or not, your post and the comments really gave me a good laugh. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think your hoop is hilarious! Love it! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteOooh I love your hoop. I guess if I was picky I would say "I sew so I won't kill people" but only because I'm not a quilter primarily and actually I get so frustrated with more complicated quilting patterns, the actual quilting might send me over the edge instead ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway!
I have an entire folder of inspiration and witticisms that I'd love to stitch one day.
ReplyDeleteSome of the shorter (and more appropriate) ones are, "Today I will be happier than a bird with a French fry" "Life has no remote. Get up and change it yourself." "If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?" or "Being a great quilter is 3% skill and 97% not getting distracted by the internet."
:-)
I love it just the way it is. (it would be fabulous hanging right next to my "Quilt Whore" sign.)
ReplyDeleteOMG. This should be my motto! I love it! I came for BQF, and am so glad I stuck around to explore. I am really enjoying your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this. If I'm not lucky enough to win, I just might have to try making one myself.
ReplyDeleteI love Tracy's addition above "Being a quilter is 3% skill and 97% not getting distracted by the internet" That's me.
I wishI could think of somthing smart to say, but I can't so can I just say I would love to win this if you could fix the draw
ReplyDeletexx
I can`t think of anything witty as I`m too tired so hope I can still play. Your hoop is fab!
ReplyDeleteTee hee. I think that's an awesome hoop. I really love all these quotes on hoops going around.
ReplyDeleteLove the hoop, so true! How about going all Descartes, with, "I quilt, therefore I am." ?
ReplyDeleteI like Laura's suggestion (comment no 1 ) Too funny!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if your'e doing U.S., but I like "Just shut up and quilt." (or Just shut up and sew!)
ReplyDeleteI think your hoop is terrific. My friend has a tote bag that says "I knit so I won't kill people." But, this would be more fitting for my sewing room wall.
ReplyDeleteI'm so in touch with that emotion! Thanks for offering it as ka prize.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much I love that hoop!! Thanks for the opportunity to win it.=)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great hoop! I would love to have this hanging up on my wall!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adore this - so perfect!!! I don't know that I could think of anything better to say:)
ReplyDeleteThis hoop is so cute. I want it for my sister who does my quilting. It so expresses her <3
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love it! My family has even heard me say this a time or two...
ReplyDeleteJennifer :)
I don't know whether I have ever said this but it is very true!
ReplyDeleteI love this! It definitely describes my exact thoughts on certain days! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteThis would look so nice in my sewing room
ReplyDeleteKat x
This? Is awesome. I want to put it in my office at work! Thanks for the giveaway, Canadian Abroad! :)
ReplyDeleteI am definitely in the love it camp! It would get hung up right over my sewing table!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it - totally my style! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love this hoop just the way it is!
ReplyDeleteOhhh I love this! And in my case sometimes it feels true!
ReplyDeleteHehehe... I love it. This is something I definitely live by. Unfortunately, sometimes quilting does the opposite and doesn't calm me. Maybe it's time to get a new hobby.
ReplyDeleteThat is so amazingly fabulous. Thanks for giving it away!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this. It's so true. Also, I want to embroider a Live, Love, Laugh, Puke hoop.
ReplyDeleteI stitch therefore I am.
ReplyDeleteLove it! "Will brake for Kraken"
ReplyDeleteI love this hoop! I might make one that says Calgon Take Me Away (do you remember those commercials from the 1980s?). I feel that way most nights - bone weary after a day of work and then wrangling kids through supper/bath/bed.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I also love: To quilt is human, to finish divine. I can relate to both!
ReplyDeleteOh I love this! And I love seeing the suggestions in the comments.
ReplyDeleteIf my walls could talk they wild say "Aww shit!"
Swearing plus needlepoint = heaven
This is freaking awesome. I would want it to read exactly as the one you've pictured. It's so true!!! Thanks for offering this giveaway.
ReplyDeleteUgh. I have to think?! I don't know what to say. "I'm made of floss". How's that? :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! And I agree with the quote totally!
ReplyDeleteThat quote you have is Wonderfully perfect. It would make a great quilt retreat T-Shirt...can you imagine a group of women showing up dressed in this -Priceless.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity
That is hysterical! I love it. And when I showed my husband he laughed too.
ReplyDeleteWho could possibly hate this?! I had it pinned on Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteI do favour quirky quotes, subversive stitching, and funny punchlines. I am just not a "Home Sweet Home" kind of gal!
This would make me think of you and smile.
ReplyDeleteAnd i will hang one next to it that says, "AMEN!" thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy coworker says that regarding service dogs that look like lap dogs. I have this dog so I don't kill you.
ReplyDeleteOh you know I love this one! I can't believe you're giving it away! Alternatives ... 'NO ... I don't to alterations!' or even, 'would you ask Picasso why he paints so many?'
ReplyDeleteOh I *need* this... My flatmate thinks so too ;o)
ReplyDeleteI say this on pinterest the other day and I think it may be a funny quote.
ReplyDelete"Haters gonna hate, Potatoes gonna potate".
Let's see...what would I like you to say? "I am going to visit Rhonda" oh wait that isn't a quote for a hoop is it? Well, then how about "Flowers wilt, jewelry tarnishes, and candles burn out...but chocolate doesn't hang around long ehough to get old."
ReplyDeleteA little long but reminded me of you! change that to coffee and you have me!!!
Love the hoop. Quote for another 'blog it or it didn't happen'
ReplyDeleteI like this, and think it is entirely appropriate for every mom who crafts to stay sane :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this one of a kind, original, not to be repeated giveaway! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love it and I think it is a fun addition to a sewing room/area. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHow about "I don't wanna, but hafta"? Nah, your's wins :)
ReplyDeleteI love this and loved it when you blogged about it!! I NEED this to help me keep focused! hahaha Great giveaway Susan!
ReplyDeleteI have those days. I want to put it right by the door. Probably. Scare a few away! Love it! Hope I win would be good in a hoop! We all write it enough! Thanks for making an artistic gift.
ReplyDeleteI love this!
ReplyDeleteI think if I were to hoop a saying, it would be "They lived messily ever after."
I know most people dislike this saying but I like it because it says it all
ReplyDelete"It is what it is" and today of all days I know that best......Thanks for a chance to win
This is awesome! And totally sums up how I feel about quilting! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThere are all sorts of things I have thought about getting on a hoop, but oddly, I can't remember them now !
ReplyDeleteThis one is great
Hahah I love it. I like "make tea not war" and am contemplating F*ck F*ck F*ckity F*ck as my next embroidery project.
ReplyDeletei love love love it!!! it's so great! if i made one it would say:
ReplyDeletei never finish anyth
What??? How can people take offence to that - that is just weird!
ReplyDeleteHere's a quote for you to stitch ... "It's not your opinion that counts"
:)
love it! thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love it. I would hang it up at work.
ReplyDeleteLove it! That would look perfect hanging on the wall in my sewing room
ReplyDeleteHa! SO true!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for the chance to participate! I have a few ideas, but they're probably not appropriate for this venue! :)

ReplyDeleteYou are sooo funny, I can relate to this sooo very much some days! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes!! I love this saying and use it often!! Your giveaway is brilliant!!
ReplyDeletehehehe... I love your piece and share the sentiment as well. I think I'd be a much angrier person without quilting in my life.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan
ReplyDeleteI love this...& everything else you make (as you know)
Can't wait to meet you NEXT WEEK :)
I love this saying! So true! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove your hoop, Susan! There are some other great suggestions too (particularly Laura Jane's!).
ReplyDeleteSubversive hoops could be a fun little business :)

I think this is perfect!! I just love it! New mantra! Thanks so much for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely giveaway. I think its a great prize :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm also on the Love side. Speaks perfectly at times. here's hoping
ReplyDeleteI saw this one recently: When life throws you scraps, make a quilt.
ReplyDeleteEven if I don't win anything it's worth a visit just for the humor. Great responses!
ReplyDeleteloritfrench at comcast dot net
No corner to hide ... (ok not one of my best ideas - but a try) - The hoop is a it provocating (?provocing? - my Egnlish has been better) but that goes well with me..
ReplyDeleteMy favourite quote is 'I'm just a raggedy Ann in a Barbie Girl World' probably too long to stitch though lol
ReplyDeleteI take antidepressants so I won't kill people. I quilt to keep from drinking too much. :-) Nevertheless, I love the thought.
ReplyDeletei think it would be cute to make one that says - " this took forever to make" :) raineoc@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI love this!!
ReplyDeletei want one that says 'i'm a needle junkie' :)
Karma is only a bitch if you are!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun prize. My favorite quilt is You can do hard things.
ReplyDeleteI need this. It's a good mantra. I really like it, but would love it if it were about sewing in general or crochet.
ReplyDelete"Current Status: SNAFU" Thank you for a lovely giveaway.
ReplyDeleteHah! I cracked up when I saw this. LOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!!! If I could put a quote in a hoop it would be, "You smell funny!"
ReplyDeleteWhat a great saying... some days its so true....
ReplyDeleteI love it Susan--you make me laugh!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's brilliant! I wanted the T-shirt that says "I knit so I don't kill people" but that would be great on a hoop too. Maybe "I stitch" to include all my crafts!
ReplyDeleteoh, i love this!! i want to embroider a hoop that says "no, i will not hem your pants" ;)
ReplyDeleteSusan it is BRILLIANT. I love it, and will place it prominently on the door to my craft room if i win it!!
ReplyDeleteSorry I've been MIA lately - not in a blogging mood any more as I'm growing a baby instead :) Exciting times.
thanks for the generous (as always) giveaway!
allisonbright{at}gmail{dot}com
I love it! So true!!
ReplyDeleteanother one..."Quilting keeps me sane..."
how about "I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it." definitely applies to me! :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely understand that sentiment. At my house, we call it fabric therapy. I tell my husband that it's cheaper than a shrink. I think he's starting not to believe me.
ReplyDelete
