Production Line

This weekend has been taken up with a lot of non-bloggy stuff. It happens. There is a chance it might be happening lots more in the next few months. If it does, it does. In fact if it does, while I will hanker after my sewing time, in terms of life it might mean we are gaining ground. We shall see.

I did manage to start my mini production line today though. In aid of my makes for the Sample Swap at the retreat.

First I traced out my pattern.
This time on cotton, for more ease in sewing (I've been told),
and for the lack of enough linen on hand for the production line.

I layered the cotton with wadding on the hoops
to give them more substance,
and so my less than tidy stitching on the back wouldn't show through.

This time I began with the flag.
Not a French knot in sight.
Yay!
The satin stitch is going to take time, but not nearly as much time as the French knots were. And, for your information, that hoop has been flung carelessly into a corner to be ignored for now. Time is limited. These need to be finished. I am learning the importance of prioritisation. And the fact that I think I will be needing more red perle cotton.

  2. sometimes, well most of the time life gets in the way of my sewing, but that's what I signed up for :O) and I think it makes the time we do get to ourselves, all the more precious...I don't envy you all that stitching but I'm sure they'll be fantastic when finished, I actually really liked the french knot one too :)
Perhaps you could show me how to get them uniform size each time, same thread, number of twirls around needle yet always different...doh !
