Deadlines

Yesterday I wrote down my Q1 FAL. I mentioned that I had to get my hexies done as I had given myself a deadline. Actually the deadline has been imposed elsewhere. I've entered it into a quilt show. Eeeek!

Last year several of my brave friends entered quilts in the British Quilt & Stitch Village 2014. We went as a group to see the show and had that inevitable conversation about not being able to comment about a lack of modern quilts in a show if modern quilters are not willing to put themselves out there and enter their quilts in these shows.

So Reene and I made a pact. This year would be the year that we took the plunge and entered a quilt each. I've done it. I've sent in the entry form.

And if you look at the dates on that piece of paper you will see that I need to have this hexie quilt finished by April. I'm stitching as fast as I can here!

Though the question on the form asking me how big the quilt I was entering was completed flummoxed me. How on earth should I know?!

  6. Fab motivation. Nothing like a bit of pressure. Given that my quilt took 3 years, I take all of my hats off to you, but you 'll get there I'm sure. Now stop reading this and get stitching!

  12. You're going to get such a thrill when you see your quilt hanging in a show. Don't forget to subtly hang round and listen out for the nice things that people say about it! You'd best crack on with the stitching!

  13. Good for you....it is rather a scary process, isn't it!!!

  15. Ha ha ha ha!! Is there space to put a variation if sizes? Lol. Now you have a dealine and a size requirement, you best get your stitch on! You should enter your blue quilt! (I want to say Heather Ross, but I'm pretty sure I'm wrong). It's modern and different. You'd love to walk into a quilt show and see that hanging about.
    Good luck!

  27. Hurrah, well done! I'm sure they will be mightily impressed with your quilt (and if not, I like Charlotte's idea of hanging out to hear old people being mean about it).

  33. What a great idea and your hexies are beautiful so I am sure the quilt will be too. The American shows require photos of the finished quilt to enter, it is nice that you can enter before you are done.
