Each and every evening I add to my hexie quilt, whether cutting and basting, or stitching them together. And it is growing much faster than I ever thought it would.
As you can see, it is like a picture puzzle with the pieces fitting together. Since I rarely, if ever, plan my quilts ahead of the game they grow in their own weird and wonderful ways. I am done with the blue hexies on this quilt now, and just need to keep adding LV ones until I have it square(ish). I have a feeling I haven't yet cut enough LV after all, but that's okay as I still have lots of fabric left.
Meanwhile, the backing fabric has arrived for the HST quilt, and I went and picked up some wadding today. I may be gone a while because (for me) basting this quilt is going to be one hell of a job. I bought more pins today too, just to make sure I had enough.

i'm impressed with your growing hexies! i have a hexie UFO that i seem to work with every 6 months or so and then put back down. and it's only a mini.
ReplyDeleteugh i hate basting. gotta be my least favorite part of quilting. good luck!
What a fabulous range of LV fabrics, looks great.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! And if you want some other LV fabrics you might not have in your stash give me a shout and i can cut some pieces and send them over for you. x
ReplyDeleteLove it so much... I am going to return on my EPP on February, hopefully!
ReplyDeleteThese are looking brilliant! What a lot of hard work! Jxo
ReplyDeleteYou're making wonderful progress! How are your fingers holding up?
ReplyDeleteLove this LV quilt with the contrast bubbles! You put in the graft and you reap the reward! Beautiful work x
ReplyDeleteI love both quilts, the hexies are growing really fast. I hope the basting is not too horrible, I think I put in far less pins than most as it takes me about an hour to baste a quilt that size.
ReplyDeleteYou are an EPP goddess for sure! Beautiful! Just wondering if you hand cut the hexagon shapes out of fabric by hand or do you have a shape cutting tool? I get why the hand sewing of EPP is enjoyable, by my goodness...cutting all those little hexies out first! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteLove the hexies! Can't wait to see them finished. Don't envy you the quilt basting though.
ReplyDeletelike the LV hexies -- My last EPP project was where I ran away from all the stress of my Mom's last year -- so glad I had it!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! It's going to be a quilt to be proud of at Quilt and Stitch Village :)
ReplyDeleteIt's looking truly marvellous! Good luck with the layering and pinning!
ReplyDeleteOh you and I are SO alike! My quilts often involve little (rather no planning) and just magically appear...although I think you have more patience than me doing all those hexies! As for pinning and basting, w.o.r.s.t. part of the whole process if you ask me. Have fun doing it!
ReplyDeletePin basting - yuk!!!!
ReplyDeleteHexies look fab though xxx
Love how this is growing! I'm still going backwards *sigh*
ReplyDeleteYou are the queen of the EPP!
ReplyDeleteYou can never have too many pins! I wish you the best of luck getting that sucka to stick down and play nice!
ReplyDeleteLooking good! BTW thanks for the email...I will respond in kind when I get more than 2 minutes at the computer :o)
ReplyDeleteHow big is the HST quilt? It sounds like a monster project...
ReplyDeleteLove those gorgeous little hexies. Im seriously impressed by how quickly you are making those.

ReplyDeleteTreeemendous progress! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed with your progress on the hexies, you are going so fast. I might have said it already, but I love your choice of fabric.
