Two fabrics in a quilt. Only two fabrics in a quilt. And those fabrics being solids. This is so out of my comfort zone, which is usually the school of 'the more you throw at it the merrier mode of sewing'.
But I am happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone. Paper Snowflakes measures up at approximately 78" square. I have an idea for the backing. The question of how to quilt it on my domestic machine is boggling my mind though.

Love those big secondary arrows!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with a quilting strategy xxx
Oh wow, it's even better than I was expecting!!! I love love love the way you've carried the block into the border. I hope you're going to be selling a pattern for this quilt...
ReplyDeleteIt is just stunning - can't beat red ans white together!
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed. I did a quilt with three solid colours a few years back and got really!really bored half way through. It's still waiting to be quilted. It's hard to work with solids when you are use to lots of colours and textures.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! Quilting? Swirly swirls in the white and big bold perle in the red! 😁
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, can't go wrong with a red and white quilt. Personally I'd stitch 1/8" either side of the red ditches and let the pattern speak for itself. Looking forward to seeing how you do it - Chris :D
ReplyDeleteIt's fabulous Susan, love it! Rx
ReplyDeleteSo striking! Good luck with the quilting. jxo
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous Susan! I can see this appearing in many forms and variations over blogland in the future! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThat is one classy quilt! Bold and clean and just elaborate bought to be awesome. I like ChrissieD's quilting suggestion: 1/8" outside all the red shapes.
ReplyDeleteLove this - red and white is such a classic combo!
ReplyDeleteVery dynamic Ms Canada. I agree with Archie . .. the design into the border is perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great step! Not a clue on the quilting though, sorry
ReplyDeleteFantastic, i love it, especially the border, just perfect!
ReplyDeleteAfter 59 years of extensive research in the great white north I have noticed that snowflakes are white.....just sayin.......Also I hope that is two lovely young ladies holding up the quilt while standing on the chairs and not one doing the splits.
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing Susan
ReplyDeleteit is such a triumph this quilt! and yay you for getting out of your comfort zone! it clearly worked!x

ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely geometric pattern! I don't see snow flakes (that's just me most likely!), but I love how the points go out into the border and the secondary arrows where the blocks meet. And you can't go wrong with red and white!
ReplyDeleteUtterly fabulously amazing. This is a great take on a two colour quilt . Love that you used red and white. I'd keep my quilting simple and really make that design pop!
ReplyDeleteI love this, absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beyond fabulous. You should sell the pattern.
