All Caught Up

I've done it. I'm all caught up on my bee blocks again. Now, I know some of you do your bee blocks the same day you get informed what is required. It's quite obvious mine get done when they get done, usually accompanied by a great deal of apologies for the lateness of their arrival. It isn't intentional, nor laziness, that causes me to fall behind.

Whatever the reason, I actually have my October bee block for Stitch Tease all ready for posting. And I love it. When Val said the colours she wanted for the block I really wasn't sure at all. But as soon as I started cutting and saw them grouped together I had a little revelation, and instant love. What do you think?

Our German exchange student went home in the very early hours of Saturday morning. As in set the alarm for 3am early. But it was a fabulous week and we lucked out in getting the most wonderful girl paired up with Helen. I would welcome Laura back into our home any time. Since she was such a pleasure to have I decided it would be nice to send her home with a wee gift to remember us by. A pouch is always a quick and easy item to make at the last minute, so I did some simple piecing and paired it up with demin from jeans bought in a charity shop - originally used for Emily's school bag.

My zipper wasn't quite as long as required for a wide open pouch but I persevered and made it work. Just. I hope Laura smiles when she uses it and remembers this week with lots of happiness.

  24. Glad all went well with Laura! I had no doubts about how good those colours would look, just whether or not I actually had enough! The background nearly killed me hunting through ever nook and cranny tonight, but I'm about 1/2 way sewn now...

  25. Glad it all went well with an exchange student and she got along well with your girls. I'm sure she'll never forget her experience with you. I think the colours in the flying geese block look great together. Very modern, which I don't choose to decorate with myself, but still they look very good together.
