And The Next Project to Progress Will Be...

... My Walk in the Woods epp.

I am on a mission to move lots of my WIPs forward. I also want a smaller hand sewing project. I am hand quilting my Stitch Tease quilt but that is massive and heavy, and does not fall into the portable project category.

So today I got my epp star and hand appliquéd it to the background fabric - Kona white. I had to spend the afternoon sat watching the multi school sports day. This involves a number of primary schools, using the secondary school playing fields. Three hours to sit and watch, well nothing really, because they take the kids into far off corners to do the various activities and the parents are not encouraged to follow.

With that in mind, I parked in a convenient place on the edge of the field and never left the car. Could. Not. Be. Bothered. Bad attitude, I know, but if I wanted to stand in the middle of a field doing nothing I would have. I did not want to.

Instead I sat and quietly stitched.

This is going to be another hand quilted quilt. Maybe I will get it basted tonight. Maybe.

  2. You're quite right to stay in the car and do some stitching, that's exactly what a portable project is for... The star is looking great against the Kona White!

  3. Sports days are hideous. Please don't tell I said that. Great idea to stay in your car, only wish it was an option for us! Lovely EPP project.

  7. Oh I love those days! At least we were encouraged to cheer the kids on the sports day .. it was easy in beautiful sunshine!

  8. Looks fantastic, Susan!

Can't imagine why they want parents to attend if they don't make it easy for you to see what the kids are doing. I grew up with my parents in attendance (and able to see and cheer) every athletic event I participated in through my school years. Now my parents are doing the same for the grandchildren.

  9. That sports day sounds like a completely pointless exercise!!!!! Aside from all the stitching you got done, that's beautiful!

  11. Not a bad attitude at all .. I would have done the same except I wouldn't have accomplished anything. I probably would have played 3000 games of solitaire. What is this going to be?

  16. Oh you lucky thing, I had multi sports day today too and we were encouraged to follow the kids around, so we all got thoroughly soaked! It was that damn fine rain that slowly soaks you right through! :o)

  19. This is very pretty Susan. This Sports Day sounds a bit mad! Why do they invite the parents but then discourage them from watching? Bonkers!

  24. I love Sports Day! But we are welcomed to help, spectate, cheer etc at ours. Why would they ever not encourage parents? That seems ridiculous. Your star looks gorgeous anyway!

  25. My parents never came to my sports day. I don't *think* it left me too psychologically damaged, but you can be the judge ;o)

  27. What a silly sports day. My daughter's just had her first one in primary school and it was really good - PTA bbq, picnic blankets right on the sidelines in the scorching sun but close enough to the trees so that you could sit in their shade with the baby and still not miss a thing!

Pity I wasn't sat there when my daughter won the egg and spoon instead of rushing back from a meeting that had overrun :( missed it by 10mins arggghhhh

  28. I sort of miss the days spent watching the kids play their sports. You really can accomplish so much while sitting in a car. I once made an entire scrapbook in the car while my kids snowboarded all day.
