First Quarter FAL Reckoning

It is time for all of us who are participating in the Finish-a-Long to do a wee reckoning of what we thought we could get done, versus what we actually achieved. I feeling rather chuffed with myself this quarter as it just might rank as my most successful FAL quarter yet.

Here's the link to my post where I predicted what I could get done.

And here is how I did.

1. Layer, baste, quilt and bind Salt Air. Done and dusted in January. Woohoo!

2. Turn diamond hexies into a cushion. It's another success story folks!

3. Make another tote bag with lozenge shaped epp, like one I had made earlier. I made it and tried to give it away, but it still lives here. Suppose that means I need to do another giveaway soon.

4. I had just started cutting a whole pile of fabric, mostly blues and a few brights, which I wanted to turn into a quilt. I did, and I still love it. That pile of cut fabric became my Singing the Blues.

5. It wouldn't be right if I didn't have one fail on my list, and this is it. I carry this project over from quarter to quarter. Mostly because I haven't yet decided what to do with this epp project with no actual purpose other than it seemed like a good idea at the time.

There you have it. Four out of five isn't bad at all in this household. I will be linking this up with our fearless and inimitable leader, Leanne, over at She Can Quilt.

she can quilt

Coming soon, what I think I might be able to accomplish in the coming three months. Stick around and have a laugh in a few days time.

  1. Great quality finishes Susan! Love them all - especially your cushion!

How about another cushion with the EPP? Or a fabulous tote! Or a quilt - they'd make a great centre for a medallion style quilt and you could add more EPP borders with different shapes so you don't get bored! Finish it in Q2!

I would love to make a tablerunner out of these lovely EEP! Just one more and it will be perfect for my spring table.

  3. Successful quarter by all accounts!! I was just looking for inspiration for an EPP or other small project I could take on my travels next week, I think I will try some lozenge shapes... Should keep me busy for a bit!

  11. You really did great getting things finished. I absolutely love the diamond hexies pillow. I may just have to give making diamonds a try once I get finished the hexie turtle pattern I'm working on.

And I do hope you have another giveaway soon. I would love a chance to win that bag as I'm sure would all your readers.

  14. Since I was the accidental "no reply" email person who would otherwise have won either that tote or one very like it, I vote for another give away. And this time I will make sure my email works!

  15. My favorite is your singing the blues quilt. It is just perfect. One fail is not bad...it's not a fail, you just made so many other things instead...
