Miscellany

* I awoke to a white world again today. The novelty is wearing off, mostly because I knew I had to go into town and it couldn't be avoided. I took a photo of the view from my bedroom window. Emily volunteered to go outside to take more photos. Always check what your ten year old thinks of as suitable foot wear in snow. Always!

* All three of us had dental appointments today. This dentist told us we had 'good oral hygeine'. Beats the b*****d on the Isle of Wight who told the girls they were better off drinking cola than juice and that it was obvious they were on a bad diet. (Yes, I was traumatised after that encounter.) Despite that dentist's opinion Helen has made it to the ripe age of twelve without requiring one filling yet. Jammy git!

*FMQing fish is harder than I thought. I've done it but not sure I am happy with how I did it. My waves are a little better.

* The girls are currently having a snowball fight of a different kind. Emily is outside and Helen is in. Helen opens different windows upstairs without Emily knowing where she will appear next and Emily tries to hit her with snowballs.

* They are having a friend for a sleepover tonight.

* Do you think I will make it to the end of the week with my sanity intact?

Susan

  5. Oh it's a winter wonderland! Perhaps you'll have a hot summer now - nah, that's not going to happen! Love the sound of the cuckoo clock snowball fight - hoping an errant snowball doesn't fly through the window...especially the dining room...

  6. Hope no snowballs ended up inside! There is much reading between the lines in this post.

  8. The END of the week with your sanity intact? The END of the week? After that "stabbing people with a fork" thing last week I’m a wee bit concerned about your sanity NOW!?

  9. I think the question first needs to be, did you start the week with your sanity intact? You're sounding a tad fractious Mrs!! I like the FMQ fish, and the waves are particularly good, keep going. The girls will be back to school soon (ish) : )

  11. You might not want to point out that one can keep their snowballs in the freezer for fights after the snow melts. Your quilting is great, I really love the fish.

  16. you're so lucky you got snow (i love the snow) your fmq looks great!

as dory says 'just keep swimming' or in your case sewing and you'll stay sane :)

  17. I hope Emily's aim isn't too accurate!! It could end up rather messy! What is it with dentists??!

  18. Why would you want your sanity intact? have you ever met a truly sane person? what were they like? do you wish to be like that?

No, I thought not! Just enjoy snowball fights with a twist!

    And the fish are great!

  19. Wow I just love that quilting, it's so so perfect! At least you got to do some sewing with your lovely girls home. I can hardly even think about sewing/blogging etc. until the little lampchops are tucked up in bed this week!

  20. We had a pittance of snow and I was glad! I think god willing and a peaceful day with girls at school you may indeed make it without killing anyone! Having dental nightmare here :(

  21. Oh I do not like dentists and I do not like doctors at all. Most of them tell you what ever they want just to get the money!

Lovely pics! I am so glad to see snow soon

  22. What’s wrong with her footwear? Is she supposed to be wearing snow shoes? Cant you wear regular shoes in the snow?

LOVE the waves. Im about to start quilting spiderwebs so you’ll hear the swearing from here .

“ Do you think I will make it to the end of the week with my sanity intact”. That assumes you started the week with it intact .....

  25. Well you are packing it in to half-term already!!

  26. It snowed for a little while here, but was all gone by mid morning.

Your quilting looks really good. Soothe yourself with that thought whilst you deal with snowballs and sleepovers. It must be half term with you this week - ours is next week (which means only 4 weeks in the next term - eek!)

  27. My kids would love to play in the snow they have been seeing on the TV as we never get it here. Love the quilting on your little fishies!

  28. Sleepover on a Monday night! Wow you must be the coolest Mom on the street!

    Love the quilting BTW..looks fab!

  29. I am sure you will make it to the end of the week....be sure to ignore the pile of wet clothes and muddy floors caused by the combination of girls and snow AND take a moment to make a snow ball or two yourself....even if it is of the pieced variety.

  30. Wow, you have a lot more snow that I thought you would ever get, is that normal? I think not.

I love your fishies, I really like what you did with the yellow fish and your waves are gorgeous!!

  31. wow - get you - very artistic fmq'ing ;)

..and sanity is entirely over rated

  32. Those a PROPER waves!!! Fantastic! Not what my lazy mind meant at all, but oh so much better. I think you're fish are great too. You'll love them tomorrow when you've put some distance between the doing and enjoying. Good on ya!

  33. Congrats on the good oral hygeine, boo on the snowballs in the house and hip hip hooray for the quilting waves.

  34. That last questions presupposes that you *started* the week with sanity in tact ;o) Yay for waving fishies, bugger on the snow!

  35. I think the general consensus is that you weren't sane at the beginning of the week, so don't worry how insane you will be in another few days. Have a drink instead.
Love the girls idea for a snowball fight, brilliant, unless snowballs find their way inside the house. Hope Emily isn't too accurate.
I think your FMQing is fabulous, both the fish and the waves look awesome, you go girl!

  36. Hope the snowballs didn't break any of the windows. my younger daughter wore jellies in winter and fur-lined boots in the summer.

  37. Love the waves! If I could pass one piece of info on to the younger generation it would be look after your teeth!

  38. I hear you on the unsuitable footwear. My 13 year old step daughter turns up for the weekend without a coat and wearing only a t-shirt and ballet shoes... and she does expect to go out, it's not like she thinks she'll be sitting in bed all weekend!
