Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day

It is one of the biggest days in the blogging year, Giveaway Day, where hundreds of bloggers join in and have a giveaway on their blog. It's huge fun. You get to meet lots and lots of new bloggers as well as having the chance to win something. The generosity of so many people who just want to join in and be a part of it is phenomenal. If you have come over from the linky party at Sew Mama Sew, thanks for stopping by. If you have no idea what I am talking about, click on the link button above and go see what is going on. It shouldn't be missed.

With so many people joining in it would be silly for me not to take part as well.

This time round I am offering up one hoop -

I know, it is a love it or hate it sort of prize. I got a 'mixed reaction' when I blogged about it. But I still think it sums up life some days and that some of you reading this will think it is a fun prize.

To have a chance at winning leave one comment. If you would like something in particular to say then tell me what you think would be a good quote to have on a hoop.

That's it. One chance for each person who enters. If there are multiple entries from one person I will delete them. If you are a non-reply blogger and do not leave an email address that I can contact you at if you are the winner than I will redraw the prize. I will do the draw by Mr Random Number Generator on Friday, May 25th at midnight UK time, and post who the winner is the next morning.

That's it. The very best of luck and thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy looking at and entering all the other giveaways too!

Susan

  1. Noooo! You can't possibly give this away?!! I love it too much!!

I think "Fuck it, pass me the wine" would make a brilliant hoop. In fact, I might just do that...

  2. A hoop just like this one would be perfect! Jess thought it sounded just like me when she saw it on your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I relate so much! I also like "quilting is cheaper than therapy." Thanks for the great reminder about why I should sew rather than clean on the last day before my kids get out of school for the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Ahahaha I love it!!!. And the other suggestions too. Luckily I xstitch too so even if I don't win I just may make myself one :D

  5. I LOVE THIS!!! Great giveaway and my fingers are crossed :)

  7. Well I have done nothing this morning, except read blogs and enter giveaways! I think your hoop says it all..LOL.

  8. I happen to love it and would be thrilled so I can give it to my friend who gave me quilting lessons and shares my hatred of stupid people. ha!

    Thanks for a chance!

  9. This is a great quote--almost how I feel after working 9hrs with the public!

  10. Ohhh, what a great prize - thank you! If Archie was to make a hoop it would have to be a snappy saying about biscuits and walks but I left my brain under my pillow this morning so I can't think of one!

    ReplyDelete
  11. LOL...I love the hoop and the saying. I would love to win this so I can hang it in my shop...it would get so many chuckles...thank you Susan

  12. I LOVE it! Thanks so much to my friend, the Bargain Babe, for sending me the link :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. I want that hoop! I would hang it on my door so when im happily sewing along, my family can read it before knocking! lol

    ReplyDelete
  14. I reckon "If you can read this, what the f*ck are you doing in my house?" I'll think of something shorter if I win!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I freakin' love it. If I don't win I may have to make myself something similar.

    ReplyDelete
  16. i don't actually quilt very much so i would rather this go to someone who does but i love it! just wanted to let you know. it's pretty awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Such a fun giveaway--totally how I feel! Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I. Love. This. Hoop! I cant' believe you're giving it away. How about a bit of cheese: Old quilters never die, they just go batty. Har, Har, Har.

    ReplyDelete
  19. "I'm not insane, my mother had me tested."

    ReplyDelete
  20. I absolutely love this!! I always tell people that I sew to keep my sanity so I can totally relate. Thanks for the chance! SMiles~Beth

  21. I love that hoop, would love to win. Many days my favourite line is "Don't panic".

  22. Me, me, me, me! I totally get it! Jxo

  23. I love snarky embroidery! :)
    kirkwood0419(at)hotmail(dot)com

    ReplyDelete
  24. Love this hoop! I need to make one for my studio that says "My house needs all this fabric to keep warm."

    ReplyDelete
  25. I LOVE this hoop. Truly. Not enough coffee (yet) to think of a quote, so I am gonna go with the one you embroidered, LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I had forgotten about SMS Giveaway Day this year. I'm a dunce! Never mind I think "Do not disburb the quilter as she has access to lots of sharp objects and knows how to use them"

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, considering that I don't only quilt but I do other sewing, I would like a hoop that says "Leave me alone, or I will sew your mouth shut." I know it's so morbid, but I really don't like being disturbed while sewing!

    ReplyDelete
  28. is I win I am putting this on a chain and wearing it around my neck at Sewing Summit, promise!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh I love this! IT would be PERFECT on my hoop wall! Thanks for a great giveaway!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Tee hee! I think I would actually liberate this from its hoop and turn it into a block for the 'ME quilt' I keep planning to make but always end up busy with other projects.

I've always thought it would be fun to sew up some Shakespearian insults, so I propose "thou cream-faced loon! Where got'st thou that goose look?" from Macbeth :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love the sentiment...a day without quilting makes me VERY cranky!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Can't believe your giving this away! Lucky us!
I think I've had too much sun today (finally!) my mind is blank!

Please count me and my lame brain in :-) and come enter my giveaway too :-)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I loved this when you first blogged about it, I can't believe you're giving it away!
Have had a raging headache all day so can't think of anything good for another, tho I did make a "give peas a chance" one for my nephew.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Pick me!!! I think that the hoop says it all! Di x

    ReplyDelete
  35. Perfect quote! I don't usually go a day without turning the sewing machine on.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love the saying! It would definitely look great on the wall of my library/sewing room. :) Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Love it! If I won, it would meet and greet my guests in my hall!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think this about sums up why I quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hm.. how about "I'm running out of places to hide the bodies" or "my Indian name is Runs with Scissors"?
    I love yours best though!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would love to win this Susan! I wish I was some kind of badass quilter/embroiderer, but in all reality my hoop should probably say "Has anyone seen my needle? I think I lost it around here." ;)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nooooo!!! You can't give this hoop away Sue, it's MINE!!!
IF I could embroider beautifically like yourself I would make a hoop for the door of my sewing room & it would say....
    Quilting in Progress. Piss Off.
    Hehe.
( I don't have a sewing room as yet but a door hoop is a start. Right?)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Some of these suggestions are hilarious! I love the original though... would love to win it :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I am too busy laughing at Laura Janes to come up with my own, although I like Hadley's as well!

This rocks as a prize x

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love it! If I were to put a quote in a hoop, it might be, "Don't apologize. Don't explain." Because I need constant reminders for both.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I absolutely love it! If I don't win I will be making myself one for sure?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Love the irony of this for me because last twice I've quilted I've felt like killing someone lol My mind is mush and I can't think of a the perfect hoop quotation.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I loved this since the first time I saw it. Another, very unrelated, quote that I love is, It's better to be kind than right.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Love this, and totally agree.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Love that! I'd also love one that says 'Shit happens'

    ReplyDelete
  50. That quote is so funny! I think if I were ever to choose to have something in a hoop it would say, "We've learned to take the laughter with the tears, after all these years." Or, "In my hert I'll always keep you near, after all these years." These words are lyrics from the song "After All These Years" by Journey. The song describes me and my husband PERFECTLY!!! Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great giveaway!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oooh I definitely would run off with this one. And there are a few great suggestions. I'm stuck between "Do I look like I give a shit about your problems" (for hanging on my office door) and "Wine and chocolate make everything ok". But most probably if I won I would go for the bookworm in me and use one of my fave quotes "Not all those who wander are lost". Or I'd just have yours, which I LOVE!

    ReplyDelete
  52. what a great giveaway: 'pass the wine' would be a good quote after the day I;ve had!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love it! I would take the hoop just as it is! Thanks so much for the giveaway opportunity!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Short, sweet and to the point. Some times you just have to say it so no-one misses the message ;-). Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hmmm, on a hoop?

    Make something beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh forget Mr Random just hand it over!

For prevaricating me it has to be : "Oh just ****** get on with it already!"

    ReplyDelete
  57. That is the most awesome thing to put in a hoop! Count me as a lover!

As far as other quotes to embroider, I've been thinking of this one which my boyfriend sent me the other day: "I don't have hobbies, I'm just developing a robust post-apocalyptic skill set" I guess he's expecting zombies any day or something.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Awesome. I love it and it makes me laugh! Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hee hee, you're giving it away? Your mantra?! I think it's fabby, so please count me in...and if I win, I might just have to learn embroidery so I can make one with Laura's mantra on it, although it'll say F**k it, pass me the wine/cider/vodka * delete as appropriate! x

    ReplyDelete
  60. oh god no,don't give it away !!! unless it's to me of course, and you know me :O)

Please dont let the other person who shall not be named win !!!

I love *live life for today, you might be dead tomorrow*

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hilarious! I sew, but am not a quilter (yet). However, I have a friend who quilts, for whom this would be absolutely perfect. Totally her personality. I have contemplated making myself a hoop that reads "Your drama is not my drama" and hanging it up at work, or one for home that says "No Llama Drama" (something I tell the kids, a phrase from the book "Llama, Llama, Red Pajamas". There's also the sign you see on French gates, "Chien Mechant" ("Mean Dog") that could be fun in a hoop. Thanks for the giveaway; whether I win or not, your post and the comments really gave me a good laugh. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think your hoop is hilarious! Love it! Thanks for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Oooh I love your hoop. I guess if I was picky I would say "I sew so I won't kill people" but only because I'm not a quilter primarily and actually I get so frustrated with more complicated quilting patterns, the actual quilting might send me over the edge instead ;)

    Great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I have an entire folder of inspiration and witticisms that I'd love to stitch one day.

Some of the shorter (and more appropriate) ones are, "Today I will be happier than a bird with a French fry" "Life has no remote. Get up and change it yourself." "If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?" or "Being a great quilter is 3% skill and 97% not getting distracted by the internet."

    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  65. I love it just the way it is. (it would be fabulous hanging right next to my "Quilt Whore" sign.)

    ReplyDelete
  66. OMG. This should be my motto! I love it! I came for BQF, and am so glad I stuck around to explore. I am really enjoying your blog. :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I absolutely love this. If I'm not lucky enough to win, I just might have to try making one myself.
I love Tracy's addition above "Being a quilter is 3% skill and 97% not getting distracted by the internet" That's me.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I wishI could think of somthing smart to say, but I can't so can I just say I would love to win this if you could fix the draw

    ReplyDelete
  72. I like Laura's suggestion (comment no 1 ) Too funny!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Not sure if your'e doing U.S., but I like "Just shut up and quilt." (or Just shut up and sew!)

    ReplyDelete
  74. I think your hoop is terrific. My friend has a tote bag that says "I knit so I won't kill people." But, this would be more fitting for my sewing room wall.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm so in touch with that emotion! Thanks for offering it as ka prize.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  88. Ohhh I love this! And in my case sometimes it feels true!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hehehe... I love it. This is something I definitely live by. Unfortunately, sometimes quilting does the opposite and doesn't calm me. Maybe it's time to get a new hobby.

    ReplyDelete
  90. That is so amazingly fabulous. Thanks for giving it away!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I LOVE this. It's so true. Also, I want to embroider a Live, Love, Laugh, Puke hoop.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Love it! "Will brake for Kraken"

    ReplyDelete
  93. I love this hoop! I might make one that says Calgon Take Me Away (do you remember those commercials from the 1980s?). I feel that way most nights - bone weary after a day of work and then wrangling kids through supper/bath/bed.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Love it! I also love: To quilt is human, to finish divine. I can relate to both!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Oh I love this! And I love seeing the suggestions in the comments.

If my walls could talk they wild say "Aww shit!"

    Swearing plus needlepoint = heaven

    ReplyDelete
  96. This is freaking awesome. I would want it to read exactly as the one you've pictured. It's so true!!! Thanks for offering this giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Ugh. I have to think?! I don't know what to say. "I'm made of floss". How's that? :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. I love it! And I agree with the quote totally!

    ReplyDelete
  99. That quote you have is Wonderfully perfect. It would make a great quilt retreat T-Shirt...can you imagine a group of women showing up dressed in this -Priceless.

    Thanks for the opportunity

    ReplyDelete
  100. That is hysterical! I love it. And when I showed my husband he laughed too.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Who could possibly hate this?! I had it pinned on Pinterest!
I do favour quirky quotes, subversive stitching, and funny punchlines. I am just not a "Home Sweet Home" kind of gal!

    ReplyDelete
  102. This would make me think of you and smile.

    ReplyDelete
  103. And i will hang one next to it that says, "AMEN!" thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  104. My coworker says that regarding service dogs that look like lap dogs. I have this dog so I don't kill you.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Oh you know I love this one! I can't believe you're giving it away! Alternatives ... 'NO ... I don't to alterations!' or even, 'would you ask Picasso why he paints so many?'

    ReplyDelete
  106. Oh I *need* this... My flatmate thinks so too ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  107. I say this on pinterest the other day and I think it may be a funny quote.
"Haters gonna hate, Potatoes gonna potate".

    ReplyDelete
  108. Let's see...what would I like you to say? "I am going to visit Rhonda" oh wait that isn't a quote for a hoop is it? Well, then how about "Flowers wilt, jewelry tarnishes, and candles burn out...but chocolate doesn't hang around long ehough to get old."

A little long but reminded me of you! change that to coffee and you have me!!!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Love the hoop. Quote for another 'blog it or it didn't happen'

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  116. I love this!

I think if I were to hoop a saying, it would be "They lived messily ever after."

    ReplyDelete
  117. I know most people dislike this saying but I like it because it says it all
"It is what it is" and today of all days I know that best......Thanks for a chance to win

  144. No corner to hide ... (ok not one of my best ideas - but a try) - The hoop is a it provocating (?provocing? - my Egnlish has been better) but that goes well with me..

    ReplyDelete
  145. My favourite quote is 'I'm just a raggedy Ann in a Barbie Girl World' probably too long to stitch though lol

    ReplyDelete
  146. I take antidepressants so I won't kill people. I quilt to keep from drinking too much. :-) Nevertheless, I love the thought.

    ReplyDelete
  160. how about "I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it." definitely applies to me! :)

    ReplyDelete
  161. I absolutely understand that sentiment. At my house, we call it fabric therapy. I tell my husband that it's cheaper than a shrink. I think he's starting not to believe me.

    ReplyDelete
