First up, the obvious one. If I finished Helen's quilt then poor Emily still doesn't have hers. Despite me giving it to her for Christmas there is the little matter of basting pins all through it and a great deal of hand quilting to be done. It is a priority and if it hasn't been completed in this quarter I give everyone permission to take me out and have me whipped, or take away my chocolate, or some such cruelty!
I have often bragged about being a member of Brit Bee, the most amazing group of women I have ever had the privilege to be a part of. I was Miss September in this bee. The other eleven made me glorious blocks with the Drunkard's Path block. There are 24 of them sat there now, waiting to be joined up, basted and quilted. It would be an incredible waste of such goodness to not get on with it and make the quilt!
I dug a little deeper into my box of goodies and stumbled upon 21 6.5" blocks. I love these little blocks (except one; one I hate) and really need to make some more until I have enough to make something, anything, with them. They are my Farmer's Wife Quilt-A-Long blocks. If you are a betting person then I would put your money on this being the item on my Finish-A-Long list that I make little to no headway on!
As I have started my Terrain charm square quilt I guess it now qualifies for finishing. This one will definitely get done because I am loving it so much, it isn't too big and it was my easy start up project for the new year to get me back into the swing of things. And may I thank everyone for the terrific feedback they gave me about the layout! You boosted my confidence in my slightly shaky decision making abilities.
I am pondering whether I should be adding in anything about my Favourite Fabrics Quilt, and the offspring of that idea which are the For the Birds Quilt and the Heather Ross Fan Club Quilt. At least one of these will get started shortly, and with luck finished within the three month time frame as well. Progress so far involves fabric fondling and little else.
That should be just about enough to keep me well and truly busy over the next three months, but you can add in a swap (that is being organised and shall be announced in the not too distant future), the For the Love of Solids Swap - Round Two that I have put my name down for, and a tutorial that I have promised to do for someone else. Well, quite honestly the small bit of sanity I cling to now will be well and truly gone.
Stick around over the next months. It should be amusing to watch me lose the plot!
Susan
LOL! There are v.good reasons why I don't enter these things! 'Our' quilt looks so stunning - pleeeeese get it made up into a quilt! Jxo
ReplyDeleteYou were doing so well and then at the end set yourself up for failure...silly girl. All you have to do is finish one in order to qualify for the prizes. We both know you will prob finish the terrain quilt. And poor Em....seriously finish that babies quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a big ask for 3 months - I am with Judith, start with the DP quilt, it's gorgeous, oh and so is the Terrain one, so dramatic. Good luck, am off to jump in now.
ReplyDeleteYour bee quilt looks fab! I'd start with the terrain and then move into that one :)
ReplyDeleteI forgot how beautiful your Brit Bee blocks are. Goodness they're pretty blocks you have!
ReplyDeleteYou have many pretty projects to finish. Can't wait to see 'em done!
Are you a mental?
ReplyDeleteI agree- do the DP first! It's so pretty! Focus on one finish at a time (like I am!) for a bit and it might be less frustrating? Good luck, whatever you decide on!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I kind of think you're nuts, in the nicest possible way. Why on earth did you add the last two that you haven't even started cutting into yet?
ReplyDeleteA whipping!!! That might be interesting. Better get moving on Emily's quilt.
lol talk about glutton for punishment! I'll stick to my Winter Stitching list for now - it's long enough!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you will have to have your chocolate taken away!
ReplyDeleteYep...Im loving those Brit Bee blocks and I'm wondering if that pattern would make a fabulous layout for my Dad in boy fabric ...
ReplyDeleteYes-Emily needs her quilt finished.
Im nervously starting a FW QAL this year. Everyone I know who has done this previously makes the project sound agonising so if you could only post positive things about that in future that would be fabulous. (I have a feeling that quilt is going to end up with me being bald from ripping my own hair out )
I'm sticking around for the fun :)
ReplyDeleteI got all mine laid out two days ago and posted and feel so much better now that they are out there in the ether! All we have to do now is finish them ......
ReplyDeleteYes, I was sitting there that smugly too until I reorganised my sewing space... ho hum, what's 13 UFOs between friends o.O Good luck with yours :o)
ReplyDeleteYou and me both babe! Wont be going anywhere :-)
ReplyDeleteI think the Christmas season may have left you a little touched...that's quite a list you've got there. I say work on the DPs and the Terrain HSTs during the day and Emily's quilt in the evening and don't forget to sleep!!
ReplyDeleteThose DP blocks are so gorgeous!! That's going to be an amazing quilt, as is the Terrain :)
ReplyDeleteyour farmers wife blocks are gorgeous - not sure which one you hate!! defo need to make a few more of those - good luck with the other finishes- too scared to look at all my 'need to be finished' pile!
ReplyDeleteWow, Susan, you are ambitious! I'd love to see those projects completed. They are really pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think you can do it, like the little engine! I have to admit that I did not mention the FW blocks in my list. I am hoping to ease back into the habit of making them very soon, when I started I said that I would make however many were done by the end of June into a quilt, but I really need more than I have.
ReplyDeleteDo you plan on sleeping in the next 3 months? Fab projects, can't wait to see them progress.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good supply of chocolate to keep you going through all this!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it - good luck with your list!
ReplyDeletei am rooting you on! you can do it you can do it you can do it!!!!
