When the guests left I started with the process of appliquing my rainbow hexies to their background. I have chosen to put these hexies on a Kona charcoal backing like I did with my framed purse. Actually, I tell a lie there. The person that this eventual cushion is intended for requested the Kona charcoal. I just do as I am told
I am happily going around the edge, slip stitching away. Pricking myself repeatedly on the pins holding it all in place. Contemplating how I am going to quilt it. What I am going to sash this block with to make the cushion bigger. Admiring my wee hexies and admitting to myself that I finally have a great assortment of fabrics in bright colours that I love. But I might, just maybe, have to get one or two more this weekend at the Festival of Quilts.
I will be going on Saturday. I know Nicky will be there, and Lucy. I know that Laura Jane, Katy and Trudi can be found working. Deborah will be demonstrating. Who else is going? Let me know if you will be there when I am and we could always say hello.
Susan
Not a huge fan of hexies but this is counter to that thought. Superb colour placement.

Oh wow! Look at those little tiny stitches! And perfect little nesting corners. Just spectacular, my dear. Lovely. Have a great time at the FOQ. Wish I could go :(
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hexies, can you pin them with basting safety pins next time? I hope that you all have fun at the Festival, I wish I could go too.
ReplyDeleteNice work - I'm sure you've got a cunning plan to quilt it! Enjoy the festival - I'm in the UK next week. Just a few days too late, like last year!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking gorgeous! Have a great time at FoQ and take some photos for those of us who are stuck at home!
ReplyDeleteP.S. You could try sticking the tips of the pins back into the hexis (to lie between the fabric and paper) - that way you won't catch your fingers and risk bleeding on the hexies!
I'm going Sat and staying over for Sunday too!
ReplyDeleteWould love to meet up if my friend doesn't mind
