Progress Report

You may wonder if gott any sewing done at all while I was away last week. I did. A little. A very little. But it's a start, and better than nothing.

I managed to piece my first two Star Flowers with the DS fabrics and the grey background. I for one love them. More than I thought I would. To the point that I want to finish this project for the person it is going to just so I can start one for myself.

Yesterday I cut the papers and fabric for three more stars, and then I basted them last night.

Now the grey one in the middle is a wild card. Not sure if I should be going with this or not. I would appreciate opinions please. I can always use it somewhere else if you think it would look out of place in this eventual cushion.

  1. I like the grey but would want to add at least one more into the mix, though I don't know how many stars you are planning. They all look great!

  2. I like the grey - but if i's going to be the only one maybe it'll look a bit different? I guess you can't evaluate until you have all the potential blocks done?

  7. I like the grey one but then that is one of my favourite fabrics. See how it looks as you get all the rest done as it will certainly work somewhere. The flowers are great.

  8. Gorgeous.
I like the grey, but if it were me, I think I would change the diamonds rounds its edge for colours, then it will look super cool.

  11. These look great! I am undecided on the grey though. I like Liz's suggestion, what about doing the flower in the greys of the borders and then a colourful background. Then it will be in reverse, if that makes sense. Just a thought!

  13. Oh deffo keep the grey one - it could be the equiv. of Di's retro flower quilt where she inverted one of the flowers. Your cushion will be beautiful!

  18. I love the little rogue grey one! But I would also keep my options open until you decide on the final design! You'll know, when the time comes! It could always go on the back or be made into a matching mug rug!

  19. They're lovely - one of the nicest things I have seen made with FMF. I like the grey but am with Isisjem, that I think you will need the rest of the blocks to decide whether it should stay - however if you are going with the 5 blocks shown and no more then I think it would look lovely as the centre block (otherwise it might look a little unbalanced)

I love the grey, keep going and see what it looks like when you've made all that you need.

  22. Yay for the grey - it's as beautiful as the others xxx

  23. I think the grey would work if you made it the focal piece in the centre of the cushion.

  28. I like they grey. I don't know if you should leave it all by itself or have a couple of them or centre it or what, but I do know I really like it. And I adore the pink. I think you won't know til your putting them all together, and then it'll be obvious whether it stays, goes or needs a friend. Or maybe even keeping it as a loner but using that dark grey as your border fabric?
Point of the ramble - I like it.

  33. well I do love grey so I'd keep it and review once the others are done. These blocks are really lovely and the FMF is looking very nice. i have a stash of it but no idea what to make with it yet.

  34. it needs to be evaluated when you have completed the others - if you're only doing 3, then i'd say probably not - love your flowers btw

  35. Yes to the grey as a one off until a whole lot more are made. It might give a nice Quiet spot to rest the eyes or it might end up looking bland...so... reserve judgement! The pinks and blues are a winner!

  36. Yes I like the idea of the grey one, but maybe a coloured background so that you reverse the colours completely

  37. they are gorgeous. Yes, I love the grey on grey, keep it!
