... work continues on my Mouthy Stitches tote bag. Just in case you thought I got distracted making a different tote. I have been sharing my tote love out between them. Honest.
But I am at a bit of a loss. I think that I have done enough hand stitching. Except for the bit down the middle of the back of the tote. I am still searching for the right words to put there. And my brain has frozen. I keep thinking along the lines of a bicycle theme - what with the HR bikes on the front. But I can't come up with anything clever. Can you?
And do you think that, other than the missing words, there is enough stitching on the panels or should I add more?
All advice - funny, sarcastic and useful - is welcome.
Susan
I think your stitching is perfect Susan! I personally would call it finished :) As for words....hmm that is hard! Just found this one,it is a bit long but it might work!
ReplyDelete"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving"
I believe it was said by Albert Einstein. Other than that I have nothing bike related, haha but good luck!!
It's looking great :-) I can only think of 'pedal power' not great at thinking up things like that.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful!! Truly, truly wonderful! Hmmmm...words...maybe this link will help? http://www.theargonauts.com/coolquotes.shtml
ReplyDeleteLove the tote..and the hand stitching is the perfect touch!
ReplyDeleteNot very witty here though....all I have is "love life....ride a bike"
Great job ...your recipient will be thrilled, I am sure.
That looks lovely! I think you´ve done enough stitching - it´s perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe song "Bicycle Race" from Queen came to my mind. Maybe there is a nice line in it. I don´t know the whole text.
I think you have just the right amount of stitching at the moment. Hmmm, the first thing that came to mind was something about the village bike, but I'm guessing that's not appropriate...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this bag. Can't think of anything relating to a push bike but we always use to say "keep the shiny side up" when we were riding our motorbike. Hugs
ReplyDeleteI love it - what's wrong with just 'BIKE!!' or 'The best ride in town'!?
ReplyDeleteEnough stitching how about ...
ReplyDeleteFree wheeling!
Hee hee - I love Hadley's suggestion of the *Best Ride in Town*
ReplyDeleteLooking gorgeous.
xxxx
p.s. your recent comment on my blog said you are a no-reply blogger again :0(
If its mine, I love Hadleys suggestion.... lol
ReplyDeleteThe stitching is perfect! I like Nicky's suggestion of free wheeling! (i think some of the other references are 'lost in translation' down under.)
ReplyDelete"Wheeley great bag" ? lol xx
ReplyDeleteThe stitching is perfect and I would leave it as it is. I'm afraid that I have no original ideas regarding the phrasing/words to use. Di x
ReplyDeleteI like "Get a bicycle. You will certainly not regret it, if you live." from the website Helen mentioned :D
ReplyDeleteYou can't carry a bag with Hadley's suggestion on it!! A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle (source - pub loo in Islington), Fat Bottomed Girls (Queen - Bicycle Race), I Wanna Ride my Bicycle, Get on Your Bike...okay I've now read everyone else's and they are FAR better - like free wheeling!
ReplyDeleteYour stitching is perfect and plenty as is. My first thought for words was "wheely fabulous tote" - I see Andrea had similar idea. Sorry, no second though as yet ...
ReplyDeleteI think the stitching is spot on too - and the first thing that came into my head was Queen's "Bicycle Race" too -not very original I know! The only other thing I can think of was that there was a bike called a "Raleigh Shopper" when I was a child. (As you can guess, it was not as cool as the Chopper....)
ReplyDeleteLooks great, love the colours!
ReplyDeleteI love your stitching just the way it is! I'm rubbish at thinking up funny/clever sayings! What do you think your partner would like to have written on it? Jxo
ReplyDeleteYour stitching looks wonderful Susan - no idea about any words but I really like Hadleys suggestion!
ReplyDeleteI think it is great. Maybe you should put your partner's name? I agree with Annabella about Hadley's suggestion. I have no other clever bike suggestions sorry.
ReplyDeletejust beautiful! The stitching looks perfect to me. Don't know about bike words -- not sure you need any.
ReplyDeleteIf it's for me, the irony of "I hate cycling" would be pretty apt and a funny twist to the I heart everything trend :P
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely gorgeous but unfortunately I am not a poet, so no suggestions for you.
ReplyDeleteI think the stitching on the front panel is just perfect, lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of the phrase "A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle"... trying to make it fit a sewing situation, but it's too early in teh morning!
Ha! Hadley!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of words in the little space. These are all too long, but its a place to start: http://kba.tripod.com/quotes.htm
Gorgeous stitching on the front, my dear.
oh how beautiful it is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteGiggling at 'the best ride in town' and 'i hate cycling', lol :) I have no suggestions, sensible or otherwise, but those ones made me laugh! For me I would probably put 'i hate cycling', but I guess it depends on the recipient's sense of humour! I think the stitching is perfect, I love seeing your hand sewing, it's so neat!
ReplyDeleteIf you can't think of any words you like, could you hand sew little bikes in different colours in the space instead? That would look really cute :)
ReplyDelete"I want to ride it where I like" I think there is plenty of awesome stitching...you don't want to detract from the adorable bicycles!!! xo B
ReplyDeleteI'd say 'fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go round', but then your partner may be offended ;o)
ReplyDeletei like to ride my bicycle...just like the song xoxox
ReplyDeleteI haven't got any inspirational cycling quotes but your stitching is fantastic :)
ReplyDeleteLove your stitching, like Queen and Fat bottom girls, but wouldn't know what to put on a bag. Love it though.
