Where Was I?

Trying to get my head around what needs doing sewing wise here. Had a look at my WIPs and the one I decided to pick up today was this one.

I still had the final borders to put on. So I did that. Now I am contemplating how to piece something into the backing fabric so that it is wide enough. I hate piecing backing fabrics but it is a necessary evil. And I do love this quilt top just as much as ever so a little bit of pain in the backing will lead me that much closer to my completed HR Fan Club quilt (aka Mine, All Mine!). This can only be a good thing.

  1. Super beautiful quilt. Can't say I blame you about the backing dilemma, but you're right, it's a necessary evil and gets us that much closer to a finish. Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

  8. Thats why I always do slackarse backs for the most part ...two bits of fabric cobbled together doesn't take long to do!

This quilt is going to be a stunner .

  9. I'm with Shay- two bits sewn together! You want the front to be the star of the show anyway!

  12. I love the look of pieced backs but often don't want to make them. I bought some on sale sheets to use as backs for those days. I think your quilt is looking wonderful

  13. I love a good pieced back, it means you can turn the quilt over when you spill something on it and keep using it. Not that i've ever done that. Nope.

  14. Looks fabulous! I hate piecing backs too - am always putting that bit off but I love extra-wide backing fabrics, just a pity I can't seem to find any that I really like!

  17. Yes!! A Mine All Mine quilt which you so richly deserve. Piecing the back stinks but I hate what comes after more...pinning the quilt sandwich. UGH!!!!

  19. I would have picked it up too.....stuffed it in my bag and run away with it!

  20. When the front is so pretty, who will look at the back? Use a sheet. A plain back shows off the quilting anyway!

  21. I really like how this is looking. I hate piecing quilt backs too - well, I don't mind piecing them,it's just so hard to line them up properly when basting!

  22. Just love this quilt. So glad you're keeping it around.

  23. I always stall at piecing the backing too. That and basting just don't hold my attention. I tend to walk away from projects at this stage. But your HR quilt is beautiful, so that would keep me going too.
