I Humbly Apologise

I am so sorry. I have let every quilter down. I did something that I swore never to do. That goes against the grain totally, for just about all of us.

Sob!

I...      I...     I hemmed a pair of trousers.

Does it make it any better that I used a rotary cutter to trim them to length and sewed them with my 1/4" foot?

I promise to never do it again.

Susan

  2. I'm presuming that you did this through love for a child?? In which case you are forgiven!

  14. See, I do it for the kids, but just use wonderweb and don't actually sew them.

Hope they were a bargain buy so that you could get more fabric with your pennies instead, then you may be forgiven!

  15. Don't tell people you have a sewing machine and can alter hems, or friends, neighbours and extended family will want your services all the flippin time!!!
    Trust me, I know!!!

  20. oh well, I do it too....and sometimes even for free. just be sure to throw away that cut off hem instead of hoarding it like quilting cotton scraps!

  21. Hemming is not terrible. If you want to know a way to do it without losing the bottom hem that came with the jeans, I can email you instructions or find you the tutorial. It would go fast with the rotary cutter.

  22. Unfortunately it's a necessary evil in my house too.....oh the shame.

  23. You're forgiven as I know how easy it is to go over to the dark side.

  24. That wasn't a clause in my contract. Maybe someone left it out of yours too.

  25. I hem all my own jeans and you couldn't even tell when you met me, could ya?

  26. Shhhht! It seems we are all guilty of something like that, but to admit it in a BLOG post... That's taking it too far!! ;-)

  27. You did WHAAAAAT? Haven't you heard of wonderweb? Tsk, tsk. You are sliding down my scale of admiration here. Sad. So sad.

  28. oh dear, I wouldn't be advertising that if I were you or you'll get roped into doing it all the time!

  31. I wasn't aware that was against the rules. Do the quilt police get involved?

  32. I hemmed sleeves on my husbands cricket shirt once, about 10 years ago. I stuffed it up and cut them too short. I've never been asked to alter anything again!

  33. As long as you don't do any more curtains!

  34. OMG! What were you thinking? Shame on you. You should have your rotary cutter and 1/4 inch foot removed from your home and placed into protective custody. You should never use quilting equipment for such awful tasks...so did they work out alright or did you stuff up and go too short? You are a crazy lady!
