Just Popping In To Say Hello

I do hope everyone is enjoying their holidays. We are quietly going about ours here. With unfailing predictability we have been the house of sick here. Not me. Them. I don't think I will say much more than to state I am not a good nurse. I have neither the patience nor the sympathy levels required.

Despite the germ invasion we have been having a good Christmas. I had everything organised enough for once that I was able to double duty nurse and chef duties. The meals turned our great (if I say so myself). Toasts were made, maybe some champagne drank. Presents were given and received, and there was a general feeling of good will to all. Just greatly diminished appetites and humongous amounts of time spent in bed by some, and copious amounts of medicine consumed.

I thought I would drop in today and show you the fabric (and related) goodness I received as gifts. I was ever so lucky in the gift department. I shall skip showing you photos of chocolates, etc. Suffice to say they too were gratefully received.

My Brit Bee Secret Santa gift was a gorgeous infinity scarf in lush coloured voile.
And a fabulous button FQ, and some needle threaders.
Thank you, Secret Santa!
Lots of handy dandy bits and pieces that are very useful.
I have wanted a 12.5" square ruler for just about ever.
And I am now addicted to spray basting thanks to this lovely lady.
Assorted FQs.
More perle - because you can never have enough.
And some Heaven and Helsinki which I love and have wanted for ages.
Neutrals.
A low volume quilt is on the cards for 2013.
Any and all links to the best ideas gratefully welcome.
Someone who knows me well cut me a whole assortment of 2.5" squares.
I want to do a postage stamp quilt too.
Not a scrap vomit one - these are way too pretty to even be considered for that!
And some Cuzco by Kate Spain.
I. Want. More.
This line is so very, very gorgeous in person.
As you can tell I have been thoroughly spoiled. And I'm not complaining one bit. Quite the opposite in fact. We shall continue to fight the germs here, and intersperse our days with the odd hot chocolate. You can't go wrong with marshmallows shaped like snowmen and trees after all. Nor with lots of squirty cream.

Susan

  1. So sorry the lurgy has visited your house too. Not much fun having it and not a lot of laughs playing nurse either!! On the plus side, when you aren't mopping fevered brows and removing snotty tissues from the bedsides of sick children, you have some real beauties there in your stash additions. I love your neutrals bundle especially. Can't imagine you doing low volume quilt as I always associate bright happy fabrics with you. But I bet it'll be amazing when you do it! Hope the lurgy leaves you house very soon!

  5. Well if they are all in bed, no need to keep the table clear for fancy meals, one could sew in between nursing duties. I hope they all get better in time for a bit of fun before having to get back to the routines. This post has the most beautiful fabrics in it, you will be making beautiful things this year.

  18. I'm not much of a nurse either so I get that. Sorry to hear your family is under the weather. Seems like you've been fighting something all fall/winter.

Such beautiful fabrics! Were those from family? Mine wouldn't have any idea what to get.

  19. Definitely confine the sick to bed where they keep their germs to themselves, or at least somewhere where they won't bother you while you're playing with your very lovely Christmas haul!
I hope good health returns so that you can all welcome the New Year with gusto :)
    Best wishes xx

  26. Was SSSSOOOO relieved to read that I'm not the only bad mother when it comes to nursing duties!!! I HATE it when mine get ill, and they'll tell you themselves that "Mum doesn't do tea and sympathy"!! Hope eveyone is now on the mend, and you can get on with creating marvels with your fabulous pressies. I look forward to reading about them! Happy New Year! x

  27. So sorry your family has been sick Susan :-( and hope they are recovered soon...for everyone's sanity. The fabric is beautiful and I couldn't live now without my 12.5 " square ruler - I honestly think it is the best quilting tool I have ever bought - worth every penny and more. The Cuzco is gorgeous!

  34. I think I just overdosed on all your fabric. Beautiful! You deserved to be spoiled.

Sorry to hear the lurgy is still kicking the butt of others in your household. Bed is the best place for sick people , and its a lot easier to ignore sick people when they;re in another room too.

  35. Sorry sickness is running through your family. Geez, you really cleaned house in the sewing department for Xmas! What's that button fabric near the top of your post? An old Suzuko Koseki, maybe? Gorgeous!

May your family recover quickly, and may you dodge this bug yourself...

    Happy New Year!
