Playing With Glue

Me, purses, frames, glue!? Rumours of competence here have been greatly exaggerated. And I read the label on that glue tube - it says not for children and if you look very closely at the very, very tiny small print I am sure they mention my name too. I had that stuff everywhere but where it was supposed to go. I needed to be back at the retreat with the ever so competent Katy guiding me through again because I am sure it went so much better the first time round.

But it is glued. No going back now. Of course I could make a different purse, but I shall sit and pick glue off the frame of this one tonight, and wait and see if my partner comments on the way it looks now.

I lined the purse with some fuschia Flowers and Butterflies from Soul Garden that I got from the incomparable Fluffy Sheep Quilting. I felt that the lining had to stand up to all those bright hexies on the outside. I will have to have a think about making a strap for it what with those little hoops telling me that this frame needs one. It will give me something to contemplate while I am picking away at that glue tonight.

  1. I got a few bits of glue on one of my frames and it scratches off with a finger nail as easy as pie. Great pouch btw x

  18. Yeah, it's a bit crappy that purse and your partner isn't going to like it. So you'd better start something new, and just to make you feel better about your efforts you can send that one to me ;-) (Did it work? Och, pants! Guess you're just going to have to send it to your VERY lucky partner.)

  19. What's a bit of glue between swap friends? I notice from your pictures that you didn't permanently glue yourself to the purse, so it's all good !

  27. I've been dying to try making one of these purses but the glueing part scares the **** out of me. I have seen some frames that can be sewn in...even that seems a bit daunting.

  28. Happy picking! Try not to breathe in too deeply when doing it though, I've heard that sniffing glue is really bad for you... ;o)

Anyway, glue aside, it all looks fab :o)

PS, for the glue you only need one thin line on the fabric and one thin line in the frame and you get no ooze, squelching or anything once you've left it to cure for the recommended 5 mins...
